MARGOT’S DEEL (7) looks absolutely thrown in under the set weight conditions of this Class 3 Plate, with her rating 15 points higher than her next rivals.
The Jason Edwards-trained mare gets a massive drop in class after some solid recent efforts at black-type level, including a 1.96 length fourth in the Listed Silk Stocking just three starts ago.
She looked super in a recent trial, which should have her tuned up nicely following a short let-up.
With just 55kg on her back after Leah Martyn’s claim, she looks very hard to hold out if she is within striking distance on straightening.

| Comes here off a 39-day let-up. Most recently 9th of 15 at this track Nat Clas Fm-Wfa on June 6 over 1600m, 3.5 len behind Surfin’ Bird carrying 57kg at $21. The race before that 7th of 14 at Doomben in the G3 F&M-Swp on May 23 over 1600m, on a slow track; 2.5 len behind Pinito carrying 55.5kg at $16. Tough to beat if near her best. | |||
CANSORT (3) looks ready to win and should relish the drop in class.
The Chris Waller-trained gelding was no match for Techna over this course and distance last start, but he still worked home well to finish 4.42 lengths third.
Before that, he finished second over this distance at the Sunshine Coast, and three starts ago he was beaten just a head in this class.
Blinkers go on for the first time, which should help Jag Guthmann-Chester settle him a touch closer and give him every chance to break through.

| Last start 3rd of 11 at this track Bm68 on July 1 over 1800m, slow going 4.5 len behind Techna carrying 55kg at $8. Before that made some head-way from midfield; 2nd of 12 at Sunshine Coast Bm60 on June 14 over 1800m, on rain affected going; 1.5 len behind Makamae with 59kg at $7.50. Genuine contender. | |||
MOULIN MISS (7) returns from a short let-up and looks ready to run a big race fresh.
The Tony Gollan-trained mare was sharp in a recent trial, leading comfortably from barrier to box.
She also has the fresh record to back it up, having won two from five first-up runs, including one over this course and distance last preparation when she saluted by just under three lengths.
With Leah Martyn’s claim getting her down to just 54kg, she should roll forward and take plenty of catching.

| Comes off a 54 day let-up. Most recently 4th in a small field at Gold Coast C4-Sw on May 22 over 1000m, on a slow track; 2.5 len behind Sunrise carrying 55kg at $3.90. The start before that set the pace for much of the race 2nd of 9 at this track Bm85 on April 25 over 1000m, on a slow track; head behind Give Giggles carrying 53.5kg at $2.50. Big chance to find winning form. | |||
DUST CLOUD (3) broke through in style last start and can go on with it.
The Tony Gollan-trained gelding was caught wide early over 1300m here but still settled handy before letting down strongly and putting his rivals away by 2.89 lengths.
He had put the writing on the wall two starts ago over 1300m at Doomben, finishing 2.33 lengths second despite having an interrupted path.
He’s rock-hard fit, maps beautifully for Ben Thompson, and the race looks limited for speed, which only adds to his appeal.

| Most recently favourite; won by 3 len at this track Mdn July 1 over 1300m on a soft track defeating Edge Of Infinity with 59.5kg at $3.20. The start before that 2nd of 11 at Doomben Mdn-Sw on June 17 over 1350m, slow going 2.25 len behind Tinklejazz carrying 58kg at $5.50. Looks hard to beat again. | |||
