Tuesday racing heads to Ballarat, where a competitive card offers a handful of standout betting opportunities.
Neds’ Ballarat Best Bets highlight the runners we’re keen to follow.
APACHE SUNRISE (12) is beginning to run out of chances for Archie Alexander, but he’s easy to have on recent form. Three place efforts over as many starts leading in reads well on his resume, and he should appreciate a more genuine tempo this time with the blinkers applied. Drawn a soft gate, he should enjoy a well-timed run from midfield.

| Racing well recently. Last start came from midfield; 3rd of 11 at this track 3yo Mdn-Sw on June 30 over 1200m, head behind Sonic Surge with 56kg at $3.30. The run before that sat on the speed and boxed on steadily 2nd of 11 at this track Mdn-Sw on June 21 over 1100m, 1.3 len behind Call Me Maura with 58kg at $5.50. Will take plenty of beating. | |||
VERY FAMOUS (12) is a five-start maiden who doesn’t appear far off her first win. She closed off nicely on return here over shorter last month and ran some handy races, notably over the mile at Wangaratta, last time in work. With improvement still to come, she’ll be one of the hardest to hold out.

| Second-up. First-up after six months 4th of 11 at this track Mdn-Sw on June 26 over 1200m, 4 len behind Harry De Lad with 57.5kg at $26. Previously second-up 5th of 11 at Kyneton F&M Mdn-Sw on November 18 over 1215m, 2.25 len behind Zoulette carrying 56.5kg at $12. Rates highly and looks a strong winning hope. | |||
KAWA (8) just needs an ounce of luck from the wide gate to return to the winner’s circle. She came storming home with a big run last time out in a head bob over the course and distance, while she was also a convincing winner at Werribee over the mile the start prior. Proven on the synthetic and having now shown she can handle 2100m, she’s a major chance.

| Form hard to fault. Last start 2nd of 9 at this track Bm66 on June 24 over 2100m, nose behind Sunsets with 55kg at $5. The race before that won by a nose at Werribee 0 – 56 May 30 over 1625m on a soft track defeating King Alla carrying 58kg at $4.80. Should be right there again. | |||
AUDIO POP CAM (2) is hard to fault after winning a similar assignment over the course and trip on return. The daughter to Hanseatic bolted in with a big turn of foot to score by two lengths, an encouraging effort after racing at Saturday grade earlier in the year. Her late splits from that start support her status as favourite and she should be gifted every chance from barrier five.

| Second run back. First-up after five months settled well back; won by a long-neck at this track 3yo Bm64 June 24 over 1200m defeating Dynamite Dancer carrying 58.5kg at $3.90. Previously second-up won by a long-neck at Wangaratta Bm56 December 22 over 1170m on a soft track defeating Turnaquid carrying 59.5kg at $3.70. Has come back well and looks a big chance again. | |||
