Gosford Best Bets – Thursday, June 11

Neds’ Gosford Best Bets for Thursday spotlights the runners primed to perform.

Race 1 – DAHLSENS MIDWAY MAIDEN PLATE (1100 METRES)
No. 2 Encryptix

ENCRYPTIX (2) debuted over this course and distance in April and gave a good account of himself.

The Greg McFarlane-trained gelding raced outside the lead but was overpowered late to finish 1.13 lengths second.

He was sent for a short break following that run and resumes here on the back of an easy trial win.

The speed map suggests Tommy Berry can control the race in front and that should make him hard to beat.

Dual acceptor. At debut, held ground to the line 2nd of 8 at this track Mdn-Sw on April 25 over 1100m, 1.1 len behind Seductra carrying 58.5kg at $6. Won a Gosford trial over 1000m on May 18. Shows ability and expected to improve. Kept fresh for this after making a sound debut, go close.

Race 2 – THYMELY FOOD CO. SUPER MAIDEN HANDICAP (1600 METRES)
No. 2 Jonson

JONSON (2) is on the quick back-up after finding the line well despite a wide run to finish a head second over 1400m at Hawkesbury.

The Team Connors-trained gelding has been racing in consistent form with placings in his previous two starts this preparation.

He’s at peak fitness and the mile should suit.

From the good draw, Deanne Payna should enjoy a great run on speed.

Form hard to fault. Most recently 2nd of 9 at Hawkesbury Mid Mdn on June 4 over 1400m, slow going neck behind Heard Of Him carrying 58.5kg at $3.70. The start before that held ground to the line 3rd of 11 at Newcastle Mid Mdn on April 23 over 1400m, slow going 1.5 len behind Lawless Lucy carrying 58.5kg at $11. Race 3 – EVE ELECTRICAL & COMMUNICATIONS 2&3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100 METRES)
No. 8 Pazyryk

PAZYRYK (8) looks to have come back a more furnished horse based on her recent trials.

The Michael Freedman-trained filly competed well in her second preparation finishing in the placings in two of her three starts but just couldn’t breakthrough.

She looked super in her most recent trial where she dashed clear late to win by just under two lengths.

Rachel King can settle just behind what looks a strong speed and pounce in the straight.

Race 5 – IP ADVOKAT GROUP BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)
No. 1 Squeezebox

SQUEEZEBOX (1) was very good last start over 1400m at Illawarra Grange when claiming his second victory.

Despite racing wide throughout, the Kim Waugh-trained gelding didn’t shirk the task to salute by a nose.

He’ll strip fitter and won over this distance at Hawkesbury when third-up in his second preparation.

There looks like there’s good speed in the race which will aid his cause.
