Ejections for spitting, injury question marks over my fantasy team already, seven hours of “redzone” football.
“We are so back” is the sentence I said the most yesterday as I pulled myself out of bed at 3am to watch as much NFL as possible while refreshing every fantasy app I owned.
Season Two of The Good, The Bad and The Fantasy is here where each week I highlight some of the big moments and questions that stood out to me as I watched all the action unfold.
The Good
That primetime game…
81 points and two Quarterbacks at the absolute peaks of their game battling it out like two wizards casting grand old spells.
What an absolute treat it was for all NFL fans to get a primetime game of that calibre right off the bat.
Justin Herbert
I’m one of those sick freaks that doesn’t stop engaging with NFL content all offseason due to Dynasty Fantasy purposes (and maybe a bit of tism) but one of the main narratives all off season was that Herbert is just a middling QB in an offence that favours the run and hides him a little bit.
That is not the Herbert I saw in Brazil. 25/34, 318 yards at 3 TDs to beat the Chiefs who’ve been pretty handy recently.
A few more performances like this from Herbert and he will slide back into that top tier of QBs that a lot of people had him in a few years ago.
Bijan’s 1st Quarter TD
I took Ja’Marr at the 1.01 so watching this hurt me a lot but my word he looks good.
Geno Smith
Go back and watch Geno’s tape yesterday, almost every throw is a work of art. Here’s hoping Bowers’ injury isn’t too severe because the Raiders offence might be one of the most aesthetically pleasing to watch this season.
O-line just needs to open some bigger holes for Jeanty, 2 yards a carry is not good enough.
The Bad
AJ Brown
Philly get the W by their WR1 was out there running cardio.
One target, one reception for eight yards. Philly didn’t need to look his way to get the win. Is this a trend that will continue this season?
Giants Fans Watching Daniel Jones
Maybe this one specifically applies to me but I had the popcorn ready for a Daniel Jones hate watch and that boy cooked the Dolphins.
Is this more on the Dolphins, the Giants or the Colts? I don’t yet know but after seeing Russ get pummelled by the Commies. I have a feeling there is some blame on NY.
Detroit
I thought it would be business as usual in Detroit but after seeing that performance yesterday, the NFC North might be wide open.
Stone hands in Baltimore
Death, taxes and a Ravens player fumbling on a crucial play to lose a game.
The Fantasy
“fAdE tRaViS eTiEnNe ThIs SeAsOn”
ETN is the clear RB1 in Jacksonville. All those doubters in the offseason have gone real quiet.
Speaking of offseason fades
Breece Hall look electric yesterday and Braelon Allen is not close to him at all.
Rookies heavily involved
Egbuka: 4/6 for 67 and 2 TDs
Warren: 7/9 for 76
Jeanty: 21 touches and a TD
McMillan 5/9 for 68
The young fellas were heavily involved in Week 1.
