LIV Golf is back Adelaide!
From party holes to watering holes, LIV has been breaking the barrier of traditional golf since its first tournament in 2022.
One of those areas is team golf, where groups of four combine their scores to determine a team winner.
Beers, golf, bets, and more beers will be consumed by social golfers and my full preview can be found below.
Hometown heroes will wave the Aussie flag this weekend when captain Cameron Smith, Marc Leishman, Matt Jones and Lucas Herbert are looking to bounce back after a 10th-place team finish in Miami.
Smith is back on the course after withdrawing before the second round in Miami due to illness, not to mention Leishman finished fourth in Florida which is his best result this season.
The last time the boys were in Adelaide, the man with the best mullet in golf finished third and the Rippers finished eighth.
Yes, the lads didn’t play well in the 305, but I can’t go past the value for them to win at home.
Defending LIV Golf Adelaide team champions shooting 47 under par and not to mention, all four players finished in the top 10 is hard to compete with, but the boys are back in the SA to defend their title and a value play doesn’t sound like a bad idea.
Dustin Johnson is coming off up an down beginning to 2024, with two top 5 finishes to start the year and three average performances at Jeddah, Hong Kong and Miami respectively.
DJ wants to bounce back this weekend as he’s looking to finish in the top 10 in Adelaide once again.
Pat Perez has been loving his time in Adelaide so far, holing out on the watering hole during the practice round.
Perez will need to bring the same energy this week and he and his team want to win once against in the South Australian capital.
If you’re looking for value with a proven record in Adelaide, a dabble on 4 Aces will be the go for you.
Cam Smith is back home!
After an illness pulled him out of Miami, the man with the best mullet in golf is home with the hopes of doing better than last year – finishing T3 in what was an incredible and close final day.
Smithy has been in some decent form, finishing 2nd in LIV Hong Kong and tied 6th in this year’s US Masters.
If you’re a fan of the hometown hero, you might like him to win at $12.
If not, there’s plenty of value across the board for the Aussie golfer.
Cam Smith to Finish Top 5 – $3
Cam Smith to Finish Top 10 – $1.83
Cam Smith to Lead after Round 1 – $15
Your reigning and defending LIV Golf Adelaide champion Talor Gooch is back to reclaim his title.
The 32-year-old was by far the best of them all last year, if you missed it, here’s what happened in the final round.
Incredible right?
In 2024, he’s yet to win a tournament, but a top 15, second place, tied 6th and a tied 9th, he’s ready to do just a little better in the lead to his first title defence of the year.
Talor Gooch to Win: $15
Talor Gooch Top 5: $2.10
Talor Gooch To Lead after Round 1: $19
Sergio Garcia is the best roughie in the market and there’s a case to be made for the Spaniard to be the value for money.
If he can continue the form in Miami, I don’t see why he can’t be up come the final round on Monday.
As tough as it was for Garcia in Miami, losing in the playoff hole to South Africa’s Dean Burmester, he had a cracker of a performance in the rest of the tournament, and I think it can carry over to Adelaide.
Garcia has two second-place finishes as well as one finish inside the top 20, if you were throwing a dart at the board for your pick in this tournament and you hit Sergio Garcia, you’ll take that every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Sergio Garcia to Win: $29
Sergio Garcia to Finish Top 5: $5.50
Sergio Garcia to Finish Top 10: $2.75
Sergio Garcia to lead after round 1: $26
