Super Bowl LVIII Headlines We Are Expecting to Read

Super Bowl LVIII is the biggest day in American sport and one of the biggest events set to take place in 2024.

Naturally then, the week is filled with predictions and prognostications about what will unfold on the field.

But we’re going to go for a slightly different approach.

We’re forecasting the headlines that will make the newspapers sorry internet buzz when the reporters file their stories.

Taylor Swift Announces “I think this attention is a bit much you know…”

No player has been in the headlines as much this NFL season than global pop star Taylor Swift.

Her relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has been the talk of the town, even if some are still thinking it’s at least in part a marketing scheme from one or both sides.

After all, Travis has a podcast to promote like most mid-30’s males searching for validation do.

But in a surprise to everyone, we’re expecting Taylor to walk into the stadium, fresh off the overnight private flight from Tokyo, see the bevy of cameras catching her arrival and say “is this really necessary?”

There’s a first time for everything right?

Andy Reid Searches for a Cheeseburger at Halftime Instead of Delivering Team Talk

Big Red loves his burgers (and who could blame him) and given this is their fourth time in the big game in five seasons, he might not have something original to say at the main intermission.

It’s entirely fair for the guy to be a bit peckish by the end of the second quarter, it’s a long day going through all of the pageantry and whatnot just to reach the start of the game.

At least being in Vegas and so close to The Strip there’s plenty of options if he can place an online order during the two-minute warning.

If he can’t get one of the delivery drivers through the heavy security around Allegiant Stadium, will he just be allowed to cut in line at the concession stand?

Patrick Mahomes Pass Declared “Greatest Throw Ever” Despite Hitting Fan in Row D

It happened in Super Bowl LV, when Mahomes made a spectacular throw while horizontal to the ground.

Many “experts” lauded this as the best throw they have ever seen in the NFL despite it going right through the hands of a Buccaneers defender into the face of the intended receiver.

Perhaps Jeff in the stands will catch it.

Every Super Bowl Party Has One Guy Watching National Anthem With Stopwatch in Hand

At the time of writing, the number was set at a ridiculously short 90.5 seconds for the national anthem.

Someone is going to be holding out hope that Reba McIntyre anthem has some long, drawn out notes.

Both Teams Claim “Nobody Believes in Us” Despite Successful Seasons

When you have two teams that have been among the Super Bowl betting favourites all year and the pundits have spent all season debating whether or not they are the best team in the league, the disrespect card is a hard one to play.

Even so, get ready for a number of players to still find some tiny, miniscule quote to take out of context and claim that they have just received the biggest criticism in human history.

San Francisco is favoured to win this game and has no shortage of people thinking they are pretty good, but they still seem determined to claim that the whole world is against them.

Boy the 49ers have really had some adversity going 12-5 and having home field through the NFC Playoffs while being expected to win every game… with two MVP candidates apparently.

Chicago Bears fan watches the game in ball remembering they could have had Mahomes

Let’s not pretend that Patrick Mahomes was this can’t miss, perfect prospect coming out of college.

But the Chicago Bears decision to trade up from three to two (with the 49ers) and take Mitch/Mitchell Trubisky instead of Mahomes is going to haunt that franchise for a very long time.

To add insult to injury, the Bears are now trying to work out what to do with the guy who they drafted to replace the guy they took instead of Mahomes.

But at least they can win the Super Bowl on Madden with Mahomes in navy blue.

Kyle Shanahan opts to go coach a different football code after another crushing postseason defeat

There is no question that 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan knows his stuff when it comes to running an NFL team, but postseason success is one thing that has eluded him so far.

In his time in charge with San Francisco he has done everything but win a Super Bowl and he has been part of some of the league’s most heartbreaking defeats in recent years.

In Super Bowl LI, he orchestrated a great 42 minute effort from the Atlanta Falcons offence before they just landed flat on their face.

Then three years later he had his 49ers about seven minutes from a title before Patrick Mahomes happened.

So this one just means more.

But if he does fall flat on his face, would anyone blame him for deciding that coaching League 1 in England might be better for his long term legacy?

Plenty of Jokes Made About New York Jets Absence From Super Bowl

It’s been 55 years since the Jets last played in the Super Bowl… and we’re backing that to extend to 56 years in 12 months.

LeBron James Announces Fandom of Winning Team on Twitter

Noted bandwagon hopper LeBron is $1.01 to be spotted with a Chiefs cap if they win this game.

If it’s San Francisco, just wait for the Twitter post about how he’s “always respected” the legendary franchise.

What’s another NFL team to follow by this stage anyway?
