2021 NRL Jersey Rankings

2021 NRL Jersey Rankings

The imminent start of the 2021 NRL season and we are ready to hand out the ultimate preseason prize.

It’s the only power ranking that matters, finding out who will top our list of NRL jerseys for the coming season.

Our jersey rankings are always met with universal praise and non stop plaudits in the always positive world of the internet (at least in the author’s mind) and after plenty of responses in 2019 and 2020, they are back once again!

This year we are focusing mostly on the primary kits of every team although the away and heritage options for some will also get a mention.

Let’s get down to business and see who wins the prestigious honour for 2021.

16 – Raiders

Canberra completely botched it is down to one simple fact – the heritage jersey should be the home one.

Imagine putting out a tweet that shows just how good your third choice jersey is compared to the shoulder pad, MS Paint looking thing that they’ll be running out in.

Before you ask, the away one is not much better.

15 – Sharks

The good news for Cronulla is that they have climbed off the foot of the table thanks to the Raiders atrocities this season.

The bad news is since they have returned with essentially the same look, they can’t go much higher.

14 – Eels

Just going off their home jersey, the Eels could very easily be in dead least, there’s no rhyme or reason to the patterns on it.

If I was to just go off their alternate jersey they could also be in last place.

It looks like a Central Coast Mariners kit from a few years ago with a slightly lighter shade of blue.

I actually don’t mind the away one but what were they thinking with their primary jersey?

13 – Storm

When you’re as good as the Storm are, you can wear whatever you damn well want.

Melbourne examines several shades of purple in this year’s effort, some I did not know existed.

12 – Sea Eagles

We now move into the “it’s fine…” category of our rankings and leading things off will be Manly.

For some reason I would love to see them go for an all maroon kit instead of the white shorts.

It might help cover up the team’s reaction when Tommy Turbo picks up another injury.

11 – Knights

Another effort that is not bad by any stretch, but it just isn’t that good either.

It’s pretty much the exact same effort as last year, which saw the Knights ranked 11th so why not put them in the exact same spot?

10 – Bulldogs

No need to mess with the standard Bulldogs look of blue and white.

There’s only so much you can do, or would want to do with it.

9 – Rabbitohs

Full disclosure, I actually like the look of South’s home uniform, but I have one major issue with their combination for 2021.

They have fallen into the trap of several AFL teams by not making any major changes for their away jersey, save for swapping the black trim for white.

THAT’S NOT GOING TO SOLVE A JERSEY CLASH!

If they ever put out a significantly different jersey instead of this one, perhaps predominantly white with red and green trim, they would be top five at least.

8 – Broncos

Ready to shake off the miserable 2020 experience, the Broncos have changed suppliers and Asics have sent out this effort for their debut with Brisbane.

It looks like a proper Broncos jersey and they will be hoping it leads to a change in fortunes in 2021.

7 – Cowboys

Much like the Broncos, you know as soon as you lay eyes on this, it’s a North Queensland Cowboys jersey.

Some say it looks like every other Cowboys jersey but I counter, is that a bad thing?

6 – Roosters

The Roosters are one of the teams that needs to resist any sort of urge to try and tinker with their classic look.

As long as they don’t do anything too wild I’ll always give them credit.

5 – Dragons

The Dragons know not to mess with a classic look and they have kept it nice and simple.

The Red V is always a classic look.

4 – Panthers

We’re giving the Panthers a little bit of a leg up here and adding in their other two jerseys to bring them into fourth place.

I’m a sucker for a well crafted trio of jerseys and each of Penrith’s efforts are winners in their own field.

3 – Warriors

We hope to see the New Zealand Warriors of Gosford finish their season back at home but for the time being, they’ll just have to be satisfied with looking good in their 90’s throwback style jersey.

Any Warriors jersey that brings back memories of Stacey Jones is a big winner for me.

2 – Tigers

Black, white and orange, it’s a winning colour combination, trust us.

The Neds logo adorning the centre of the chest just tops off what is a spectacular effort from the Tigers.

1 – Titans

Yeah, we’re biased but how can you not love the coastal vibes of the Titans jersey this year?

It’ll look even better as Justin Holbrook leads the mighty Neds Gold Coast Titans to the finals this season!
