NBA: Week in Review

NBA: Week in Review

Another very exciting week of NBA basketball brought about a ton of changes from a betting perspective. Paul George has been excellent of late and now finds himself as favourite for Defensive Player of the Year and 3rd favourite for MVP. Golden State have been fantastic from a team perspective, firming to $1.45 for the title in the process. The NBA All-Star festivities also take place this week, providing a ton of betting value as per usual. We’ll go through the five biggest NBA changes from a betting perspective over the past week.

Paul George Joins the MVP Conversation

Some phenomenal recent play from Paul George has him firmly in the MVP mix at $6. Throughout the month of February, George is averaging 38 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3 assists per game. He is also the frontrunner for Defensive Player of the Year, locking up the opposition’s best wing threat and averaging 2 steals per game. If George can keep up this level of play and propel OKC to the #2 seed, he definitely has a shot at taking home the award.

Golden State Firm as Title Favourites

The Warriors continue to look stronger every week and now find themselves $1.45 favourites for the title. Given the lack of a real competitor out West, it appears they’ll have a very solid road to the NBA Finals. Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant have been phenomenal all season and can definitely claim to be the 2 best players in the NBA. With Klay and Draymond rounding into form and DeMarcus Cousins integrating seamlessly, it’d take a brave man to bet against the Warriors this season.

Houston Strong Favourites in the Southwest

A recent slump from the Spurs has seen Houston firm as a strong $1.20 favourite in the Southwest division. They find themselves just 1 game ahead of San Antonio, however they appear to be getting healthy, with Clint Capela set to return soon. James Harden has also continued his excellent season as MVP favourite, averaging 36.6 points, 7.7 assists, and 6.7 rebounds per contest. Whilst Houston are definitely favourites at this point, there could be value on the Spurs at a tasty $4.

NBA All-Star Action

The NBA’s best will gather in Charlotte this weekend for the Annual All-Star festivities. This will include the Celebrity and Rising Stars games on Friday, followed by the infamous All-Star Saturday Night. The actual All-Star game will be held on Sunday (Monday Australian time) where LeBron and Giannis will be captains of their respective teams. This is always one of the more intriguing events of the year and you can currently get very solid value on Team Giannis at $3.25.
