Run over 1,400 metres, the Tristarc Stakes is a Group 2 race taking place in Melbourne on Caulfield Cup Day each October. With a $300,000 prize purse, the set weights plus penalties event attracts some of Australia’s best mares.
Starting out as a Listed Race, this race was upgraded to Group 3 status in 1994, followed by Group 2 status in 2005.
This race serves as a good lead up for the Empire Rose Stakes held at Flemington on VRC Derby Day over the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Red Tracer (2013) and Colette (2021) are the latest mares to complete the Tristarc Stakes – Empire Rose Stakes double.
