Regal Vista (1970) was the inaugural Schillaci Stakes winner when the event was first known as the Chirnside Stakes (1970-1999).
The undefeated mare Black Caviar is the most famous Schillaci Stakes winner to date winning the race twice in 2010 and 2011.
Asfoora (2023) was the last Schillaci Stakes winning mare.
The filly Bellatrix Star (2024) was the last three-year-old Schillaci Stakes winner and the first since Star Turn (2016).
Other notable Schillaci Stakes winners include the Kiwi galloper Grey Way (1974), Galleon (1982), Spinning Hill (2002), Miss Andretti (2006), Bint Marscay (1994), Trekking (2019) who gained a slot in that year’s The Everest field and went on to run third in the world’s richest turf race, and the 2022 The Everest champ Giga Kick (2025) who broke a two-year winning drought.
The 2022 Schillaci Stakes winner was the James Cummings-trained Paulele who saluted for the punters as the $2.15 favourite. Paulele went on to frank the Schillaci Stakes form with a Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes win in Perth that November.
The 2023 Schillaci Stakes winner was the $2.10 favourite Asfoora for Henry Dwyer with the classy mare letting down to salute by three lengths at her pet distance off a lead-up second in Moonee Valley’s Group 1 Moir Stakes.
The 2024 Schillaci Stakes winner was the Mark Walker-trained filly Bellatrix Star ($6.50) who became the first three-year-old to win since 2016 thanks to a good late run up the middle by jockey Craig Williams to salute by a half-length on her way to the Group 2 Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington on Derby Day.
The 2025 Schillaci Stakes winner was six-year-old Scissor Kick gelding Giga Kick ($7) for trainer Clayton Douglas with jockey Mark Zahra aboard on 58.5kg from barrier 5 to win by 1 length on a Good (3) track in a time of 1:03.14.
