The inaugural Makybe Diva Stakes winner from 1948 was Lungi.
Southern Speed (2012) was the last Makybe Diva Stakes winning mare, with Saleous (1996) the other most recent mare to win the event.
The only three-year-old Makybe Diva Stakes winner in history was Acramitis (1954).
Gatting ($101 in 2019) is the longest priced Makybe Diva Stakes winner in recent history.
Dual Choice holds the current 1600m Makybe Diva Stakes race record winning in 1971 in 1 minute 31:9 seconds.
Multiple Makybe Diva Stakes winners: Mr Brightside (2023 & 2024); Sailor’s Guide (1956 & 1957); Chicquita (1950 & 1951).
Other notable Makybe Diva Stakes winners: Comic Court (1949); Light Fingers (1965); Tobin Bronze (1966); dual Caulfield Cup champ Ming Dynasty (1977); Rose Of Kingston (1982); Zabeel (1990); Mahogany (1994); Northerly (2002); and Shocking (2010).
The 2021 Makybe Diva Stakes winner Incentivise went on to complete the Turnbull Stakes – Caulfield Cup double before a second to Verry Elleegant in the world-famous Melbourne Cup race that spring.
The 2022 Makybe Diva Stakes winner I’m Thunderstruck went on to place in a host more Group 1 races including his Cox Plate second before sadly being euthanised in March of 2023 following arthroscopic fetlock surgery.
The 2023 Makybe Diva Stakes winner Mr Brightside completed the Memsie Stakes – Makybe Diva Stakes double for the first time since Dissident (2014) and saluted for the punters by 1.5 lengths with a big win as the $1.85 odds-on favourite on way to the spring majors.
The 2024 Makybe Diva Stakes winner was Mr Brightside ($3.50) who chased down the front running Pride Of Jenni to secure a narrow but impressive second-up win to become the first dual champion since Sailor’s Guide back in 1956-57.
