Freedman is now looking at either the $1 million Silver Eagle on The Everest Day (October 18) or wait for the $2 million The Invitation race for the in-form daughter of Tassort.

Formerly known as the Research Stakes, the Golden Pendant is now a Group 2 event for fillies and mares held at Rosehill Gardens on Golden Rose Stakes Day in late October each spring.
Offering $400,000 in prize money the event is run at set weights plus penalties over 1400m and has been won by many quality mares over the years including More Joyous (2012) and Daysee Doom (2017).
The Golden Pendant now also serves as a potential lead-up for any four-year-old mares targeting the $10 million The Golden Eagle (1500m), which the 2019 Golden Pendant Mizzy went on to run third in for the inaugural edition, as well as the recently created $2 million The Invitation (1400m) held for the first time in 2021.
In 2021 the Golden Pendant winner Vangelic also went on to finish third in that year’s Golden Eagle trifecta.
In 2022 the Golden Pendant winner Nimalee went on to place third in that year’s The Invitation results.
Espiona (2023) is the latest mare to complete the Golden Pendant – The Invitation double.
