The $1 million Golden Gift is a lucrative event for two-year-old horses run and won at Rosehill Gardens in early to mid-November during the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival.
A short distance sprint conducted over 1100m, the Golden Gift race is run at set weights.
It officially gained Group 3 status in 2024.
First contested in 2015, the race is also part of the lucrative The Everest Carnival.
As of 2023 the event takes place in Sydney on the Saturday after the Melbourne Cup, the same date Flemington hosts Champions Stakes Day.
The Golden Gift is currently part of The Five Diamonds Day headlined by the Listed $2 million The Five Diamonds (1800m) for five-year-olds.
The Golden Gift serves as a key attraction for juveniles that may have an eye on the Group 1 $5 million Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) in Sydney the following autumn.
The first Golden Gift winner was class filly Yankee Rose in 2015. She went on to frank the Golden Gift form with a second in the next year’s Golden Slipper results. Yankee Rose also won the 2016 Group 1 Inglis Sires’ (1400m) and place third to heroic mare Winx in that year’s Cox Plate.

The Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained Farnhan colt North England ($3.40F) was excellent second-up off his Breeders’ Plate third on debut in October, cornering in front and giving a lovely kick at the 300m to charge home first in the 2024 Golden Gift results at Rosehill for favourite backers.
