It’s rare for Chris Waller not to have an impact on these provincial cup races, and ELLIPTICAL (2) could score an upset win at double-figure odds.

The 7YO son of Dundeel might only be a two-time winner, but he is always around the mark, and his third placing behind Matusalem at Wyong is a good guide for racing at Newcastle, as they are similar tracks.

He’ll get a sweet trip from barrier 2 with 54kg on his back, and Kerrin McEvoy has eight wins from his last 50 rides, so he’s seeing the race well, and he could make the difference.
