Round Of 16
Spain vs Portugal Predictions – Round of 16 (Match 5)
The Iberian Derby takes centre stage in a World Cup knockout setting on Monday, and Spain enter as deserved favourites.
La Roja have arguably been the most complete team of the tournament so far, easing past Austria 3-0 in the Round of 32 while recording a fourth consecutive clean sheet. Portugal, on the other hand, were forced to work much harder against Croatia, with Cristiano Ronaldo opening the scoring before Gonçalo Ramos struck in stoppage time to seal a thrilling 2-1 win.
Portugal certainly have the quality to trouble Spain, with Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, Vitinha and Rafael Leão all capable of changing the game. If they can hit quickly in transition, they’ll give La Roja plenty to think about. They’ll also take confidence from last year’s Nations League final, where they beat Spain on penalties.
Even so, Spain’s control in midfield, defensive strength and ability to dictate tempo make them very difficult to oppose.
This shapes as a tight and tactical contest, likely decided by fine margins, but Spain’s balance across the pitch gives them the edge.
Prediction: Spain to Qualify @ $1.50
Value: Over 3.5 Goals @ $2.80
Player Pick: Lamine Yamal to Have 2+ Shots on Target @ $2.10
USA vs Belgium Predictions – Round of 16 (Match 6)
The USA head into this knockout clash with the home crowd firmly behind them after a 2-0 win over Bosnia & Herzegovina. They’ll also be boosted by FIFA’s decision to overturn Folarin Balogun’s red card, a ruling that keeps their attacking stocks intact for a huge Round of 16 test.
Belgium are still standing after producing one of the escapes of the tournament against Senegal, fighting back from 2-0 down before Youri Tielemans completed a dramatic 3-2 victory. The Red Devils haven’t always looked convincing, but with Kevin De Bruyne, Jeremy Doku, Romelu Lukaku and Tielemans in the side, they still carry serious attacking threat.
The USA’s energy, set-piece danger and Seattle support should ensure this is a real battle, but Belgium’s experience and depth in the final third make them dangerous right until the final whistle.
This looks like a match that could easily go beyond 90 minutes, with both teams capable of getting on the scoresheet.
Prediction: SGM – Both Teams to Score + Over 2.5 Goals @ $1.82
Value: Either Team to Win From Behind @ $5.75
Player Pick: Romelu Lukaku Anytime Goalscorer @ $2.50
