The Greatest Power Couples in Sports

The Greatest Power Couples in Sports

Are you looking to borrow a feeling after the recent Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce engagement news?

Or do you simply need a reminder that money does buy happiness?

There’s only one thing worse than a lonely Valentine’s Day snap from Team Snapchat: ridiculously good-looking sports couples with a disgusting amount of money.

Comparing yourself to athletes and celebrities is great for your self-esteem, so we thought we’d join in on the action by previewing the Greatest Power Couples in Sport.

(PS: the only real criteria here is for the couple to be, 1. Influential, and 2. A household name). Here’s a look.

Roger and Mirka Federer

Married since 2009, the Federer’s have done a fairly good job keeping their relationship lowkey.

Roger met Miroslava, a former tennis player herself, at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. The pair have given birth to two sets of identical twins.

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen

My first point of call here was to Google when Brady and Gisele started dating (it was 2006, by the way). But then I was quickly reminded of their net worth, which combined, comes in well over $580 million.

Anyways, Brady and Gisele married in 2009 and now have two children. Brady also has a child to his former partner Bridget Moynahan, which got a little awks early on.

Anyway, Brady and Moynahan broke up in November 2006, a month before the pregnancy.

Brady wasted no time moving on, however, as the tabloids reported in December that he had started seeing Gisele.

Things quickly went bust in 2022 though, after Brady decided playing football well into his 40s was more important than his family.

Chris and Rebecca Judd

Chris and Rebecca Judd are probably Australia’s most famous sporting power couple.

The pair have been married since 2010 and share four children together.

Rebecca is best known for her work as a model and a television presenter, as well as that infamous dress she wore at the 2004 Brownlow Medal.

David and Victoria Beckham

Posh and Becks are the OG power couple that has somehow stood the test of time.

The pair met in the Manchester United player’s lounge back in 1997 and, according to Business Insider, are now worth a cool $900 million.

The pair married in 1999 and have three children together. They also might be the two most beautiful people on the planet.

Aaron Rodgers and Danica Patrick Himself

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers began dating Nascar and IndyCar driver Danica Patrick in 2018 following his split with actress Olivia Munn.

At the time, many claimed the relationship was a ‘beard’ until it abruptly ended in 2020. Rodgers moved on to actress Shailene Woodley not long after, before developing a deeper relationship with ayahuasca and Pat McAfee.

Stephanie McMahon and Triple H

The face of the company dating the boss’s daughter – what could possibly go wrong?

McMahon and Triple H were engaged in a scripted romance in 2000 that turned very real not long after. The pair got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2003 and now share three children together.

And to think… if it weren’t for Triple H drugging Stephanie, she would’ve married Test.

Justin Verlander and Kate Upton

Couple goals.

Two-time Cy Young award winner Justin Verlander and actress Kate Upton have been through it all.

Upton and Verlander’s nude photos were leaked during the famous iCloud leaks in 2014, but that didn’t put a dent in the relationship.

The pair got married in medieval church in 2017 – two days after the Astros won the World Series.

Alex Rodriguez and J-Lo

A-Rod isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but he’s been crushing on J-Lo for nearly 20 years, which makes this a future RomCom in the making.

The pair announced their engagement in March 2019 after officially hooking up in 2017, but like others on this list, it made it only as far as 2021, when the pair announced a split.

Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf

Andre Agassi was a bit of a player during the ‘90s dating Barbra Streisand early on before marrying actress and model Brooke Shields in 1997.

Agassi’s first marriage didn’t last, and it wasn’t long before he shacked up with former German professional tennis player Steffi Graf in 1999.

The pair got married in 2001 with only their two mothers as witnesses. They now share two children, with son Jaden Agassi showing a bright future in baseball.

Amanda Nunes and Nina Ansaroff

Former women’s bantamweight and featherweight champion Amanda Nunes makes up one half of the UFC’s most important power couple.

Nunes and fellow UFC strawweight star Nina Ansaroff have been dating since 2012 and are currently engaged.

Nunes became the first openly gay UFC champion when she won the featherweight title in 2016.

Mitchell Starc and Alyssa Healy

Name a more iconic cricketing duo.

High school sweethearts?

Pfft. Mitchell Starc and Alyssa Healy first met when they were nine years old and have basically been inseparable ever since.

The pair got married in 2016, becoming only the third married couple to play Test cricket.
