2023 NFL Week 7 Tips & Preview

2023 NFL Week 7 Tips & Preview

There are officially no more undefeated teams in the National Football League after a brutal slate of Week 6 games.

It was a struggle to find winning markets last week with upsets and unders galore, it is a brand new week however with some very exciting matchups.

The Panthers, Bengals, Cowboys, Texans, Jets and Titans are all on the bye this week so good luck plugging all of those holes in your fantasy line up!

I’ve run my eyes over each market, simulated each game in Madden and checked the waiver wire for fantasy studs.

Here is my preview of Week 7 of the NFL.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS VS JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
See Below

The New Orleans Saints have opened as ever so slight favourites for the TNF game this week, I would imagine this would be to do with the uncertainty around Jags QB Trevor Lawrence and his knee troubles.

Lawrence was a limited participant at training on Tuesday. In my personal opinion (granted, I’m not a doctor – shocker I know) I reckon Trev plays and for that reason the Jags at $1.98 is value.

The Saints have some exciting pieces on offense but I’m not willing to back anyone that isn’t named Alvin Kamara.

The Jaguars should be too good for New Orleans, I’m looking at a SGM with the Jags to win and both RBs (Etienne & Kamara) for 60+ rushing yards.

SGM $8.21

  • Jaguars @ $1.98
  • Alvin Kamara 60+ Rushing Yards @ $2.20
  • Travis Etienne 60+ Rushing Yards @ $4.50
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS VS ATLANTA FALCONS
See Below

I wouldn’t call them juggernauts but the top 2 teams in the NFC South will go at it for the top spot in the aforementioned division.

The Buccs couldn’t get a lot going last week against the Lions and the Falcons were also very disappointing against the Commanders.

The Falcons are yet to win a game on the road this year and the question marks at Quarterback are the tie breakers for me.

Baker and the Buccs should get this done.

My Bets

  • Buccaneers -2.5 @ $1.87
  • Baker Mayfield 225+ Passing Yards
  • Bijan Robinson 60+ Rushing Yards
NEW YORK GIANTS VS WASHINGTON COMMANDERS
See Below

This is gross and I’m really happy it’s hidden in the 3am time slot.

The Giants defence was huge against the Bills in prime time last week but poor game management and play calling saw them fall short.

On the other hand the 3-3 Commies have been embarrassed by the Bears but also kept pace with the Eagles.

I’m backing the Giants in this matchup, Danny Dimes should be back and Saquon should get a lot of work. That should be the difference maker here.

My Bets

  • Giants H2H @ $2.10
  • Saquon Barkley 70+ Rushing Yards
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS VS BUFFALO BILLS
See Below

Are the Patriots the worst team in the NFL?

They could indeed be, and things may not get easier for them this week either when Buffalo come to town.

Josh Allen and the Bills were incredibly poor on offense last week against the Giants. Allen had just 196 Yards and was very lucky that the Giants O was even worse.

I can’t see the Bills attack being poor two weeks in a row and I don’t think the Pats defence is on the same level as the Giants defence. NY are rubbish but their are definetly a few dawgs on D.

Bills 14+ for me.

My Bets

  • Bills 14+ @ $2.55
  • Josh Allen 250+ Passing Yards
  • Stefon Diggs 80+ Receiving Yards
BALTIMORE RAVENS V DETROIT LIONS
See Below

One of the best matchups of the week if you ask me.

The 4-2 Ravens will host the 5-1 Lions in what should be an all out points fest.

The Ravens improved in London on the stinker they put on in Week 5. Lamar’s receivers found their hands and the 2019 MVP through a very respectable completion percentage of 70%

Detroit will be tough to beat and the Bills showed us on prime time that jet lag post London can take it’s toll but the banged up Detroit runningback room is what I’ve got underlined as the tiebreaker for me here.

The Lions have run the ball incredibly well this year but injuries to DMont and Jahmyr Gibbs could stall out their offense.

Ravens to cover.

My Bets

  • Ravens -3 @ $1.90
  • Lamar Jackson 225+ Passing Yards
  • Zay Flowers 60+ Receiving Yards
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS VS CLEVELAND BROWNS
See Below

From one of the best games of the week to one of the worst.

It’s Gardner Minshew vs PJ Tucker/Dorian Thompson-Robinson/ Injured Deshaun Watson and someone has to win don’t they?

There is literally nothing that gets me excited about this game. Am I just a hater? Possibly but this is certainly one game I shan’t be tuning in for.

Nine of the Browns’ last 12 games have gone under the total match points line. That’ll do me.

My Bets

  • Under 39 Points @ $1.90
  • Jonathan Taylor Anytime Touchdown
CHICAGO BEARS VS LAS VEGAS RAIDERS
See Below

Chicago will host a Vegas out fit that could be Jimmy G-less in Week 7.

The Raiders’ hot boy picked up a knock against the Patriots and is highly unlikely to suit up this week.

Bears QB Justin Fields is also likely to go this week. He injured his thumb against the Vikings and is even less of a chance that Jimmy G.

One to monitor but two back up QBs taking eachother one leads me towards the unders once again.

Each of the Raiders’ last four games have gone under the total match points line and I can see this one doing the same.

My Bets

  • Under 37.5 Points @ $1.90
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS V ARIZONA CARDINALS
See Below

Big rivalry game!

It’s all about the NFC West here, 3-2 Seattle will host Josh Dobbs and the 1-5 Arizona Cardinals.

The Cards have looked impressive in flashes this season but the Seahawks are probably going to be too much of a cohesive unit for Arizona who have lost 12 of their last 13 games.

On top of that, The Cardinals have failed to cover the line in 10 of their last 11 games against NFC West opponents.

Seahawks -8 looks like the play to me.

My Bets

  • Seahawks -8 @ $1.90
  • DK Metcalf 60+ Receiving Yards
  • DK Metcalf Anytime Touchdown Scorer
LOS ANGELES RAMS VS PITTSBURGH STEELERS
See Below

The Steelers are fresh off the bye and will take on the 3-3 Rams.

I’m struggling to get a read on Pittsburgh this year, they have looked incredible inefficient for massive chunks of games this season but then will all of a sudden pull out a massive game changing play and pinch another win (Week 5 is a perfect example of that).

The Rams have wins against the Seahawks, Colts and Cardinals this year and also came withing 7 points of the 49ers. Are they a good team? I think the result this week will answer that question for us.

The Steelers have won five of their last six road games and the Rams have failed to cover the line in each of their last six games following a win. Fresh off the bye, I think the Steelers could be on here.

This also may be the week we see Jaylen Warren properly take over from Najee Harris

My Bets

  • Steelers H2H @ $2.35
  • George Pickens 60+ Receiving Yards
  • Jaylen Warren 40+ Rushing Yards
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS VS LOS ANGELES CHARGERS
See Below

Mahomes v Herbert, hook it into my veins.

This is one of the matchups every year that I get so excited for. Two of the best young QBs in the league going at it, if we don’t get fireworks in this game – we riot.

The Chiefs are crazy short at $1.40 but I don’t think the bookies are giving the Chargers enough credit.

Sure the Chargers are 2-3 this year but they’ve lost each of their games this year by one score.

Mahomes is also showing why he’s the top dog this year. Put any other QB in the league on that offence and they probably have a similar record to the Chargers.

The Chargers have covered the line in five of their last six games as road underdogs and I like them with a 5.5 point head start here too.

My Bets

  • Chargers +5.5 @ $1.90
  • Over 48.5 Points
  • Patrick Mahomes Over 250+ Passing Yards
  • Justin Herbert Over 250+ Passing Yards
DENVER BRONCOS VS GREEN BAY PACKERS
See Below

Our in house Packers fan here are Neds believes his beloved Green Bay may not win another game this season. I reckon they get home in this one easily.

The Broncos suck plain and simple, they have problems everywhere and at least Green Bay have some pieces that can make a difference.

Aaron Jones and Christian Watson are too good not to have an impact against this dismal Denver team.

I’m backing the Pack.

My Bets

  • Packers H2H @ $1.83
  • Christian Watson 70+ Receiving Yards
  • Aaron Jones 60+ Rushing Yards
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES V MIAMI DOLPHINS
See Below

You know how I said the Lions v Ravens was game of the round and then Chiefs v Chargers was game of the round well would you believe it… Philly v Miami could be the game of the round.

The Eagles are $1.75 to Miami’s $2.10 and I think it’s insane that this red hot Dolphins team is the under dogs.

Philly’s defence has been very strong this year but we are yet to truly see their offense fire on all cylinders.

I am smashing the Dolphins to win here.

My Bets

  • Dolphins H2H @ $2.10
  • Raheem Mostert 70+ Rushing Yards
  • Tyreek Hill 80+ Receiving Yards
MINNESOTA VIKINGS V SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
See Below

Rounding out Week 7 we have the Minnesota Vikings (or what’s left of them) taking on the 49ers who have shortened from $10.50 to $6 to win the Super Bowl.

Maybe it’s because I finally finished Quarterback last night but I feel so bad for Kirk Cousins, he does not deserve what the Vikings are dishing up at the moment and I think San Fran may inflict some serious pain on the Vikings here on prime time.

Is 14+ a bit harsh? The Vikings have failed to cover the line in each of their last six home games, the lines at 7 points and the 49ers may be without Deebo and CMC but I don’t see the Vikings defence keeping up with the 49ers.

My Bets

  • 49ers 14+ @ $2.95
  • Brandon Aiyuk Anytime Touchdown Scorer
  • Brandon Aiyuk 70+ Receiving Yards
FOGS' FANTASY TEAM
See Below

Calvin Ridley and Tony Pollard let us down in our fantasy team multi last week, despite the favourable matchups AND volume. These two couldn’t show up for the boys.

We go again and as always I’ve studied the match ups and put together a fantasy team with my favourite player yardage markets

Just to recap in Week 6 we had:

  • Quarterback: Patrick Mahomes Over 250+ Passing Yards vs The Broncos
  • Runningback: Tony Pollard 60+ Rushing Yards vs The Chargers X
  • Runningback: Alvin Kamara 60+ Rushing Yards vs The Texans
  • Wide Receiver: Cooper Kupp 70+ Receiving Yards vs The Cardinals
  • Wide Receiver: Calvin Ridley 70+ Receiving Yards vs The Colts X
  • Multi: $8.50

Week 7’s Fantasy team looks like this:

  • Quarterback: Jalen Hurts Over 225+ Passing Yards vs The Dolphins
  • Runningback: Kenneth Walker 60+ Rushing Yards vs The Cardinals
  • Runningback: Josh Jacobs 60+ Rushing Yards vs The Bears
  • Wide Receiver: Tyreek Hill 70+ Receiving Yards vs The Eagles
  • Wide Receiver: Amon-Ra St Brown 70+ Receiving Yards vs The Ravens
