The A-League keeps on rolling and we’ve got another massive week of domestic men’s Australian football coming your way!
Here is my preview for Round 21 of the 2024/25 A-League Season!
The Nix get us started this week and are phat odds against City. $4.00 plays $1.83.
After a solid start to their campaign. I think my strategy of blindy backing Wellington might have come to an end. Just the one win in their last five games and two losses in a row.
City haven’t fared much better to be fair but a win and a draw in their last two fixtures has them at least trending upwards in my eyes.
Do we have one last crack? The home team has won seven of Melbourne City’s last eight games.
I’m came into this fixture expecting to shy away from the Nix but that stat has me back on board.
One. Last. Time.
Friday night the Mariners will host Western United and despite relatively even money, I’m struggling to see how CCM are a chance in this one.
Four draws and a loss in their last five games for the Mariners, it’s a grim run of form and their fourth from the bottom of the ladder.
Meanwhile Western United sit at third and look like relatively decent value for me here at $2.00.
The betting trends suggest a draw due to that massive run of draws the Mariners have had recently but for me, I’m with the Westies.
I’m running out of ways to glaze Auckland FC, they are currently the form team of the comp right now and have the opportunity to jump further ahead of the pack this weekend with a match up against 2nd placed Adelaide United.
It blows my mind how much of a gap their is between these two sides in the betting markets. You wouldn’t know its 1st plays 2nd. Auckland are $1.85 to Adelaide’s $3.75. Absurd.
You already know I’m with Auckland in this one. At this point in the season I feel like everyone is rooting for them to win the comp in their first year.
The trainwreck that is the Brisbane Roar are home this week against 4th placed Melbourne Victory this week and I’m honestly so exhausted talking about how bad the Roar are this season.
The Brissie boys in my eyes are no chance of beating Melbourne Victory this weekend and I reckon I’ve spent enough time talking about them here.
Saturday night we are treated to a mid table fixture that really could propel Sydney FC up a few rungs on the ladder if a few results go their way.
Sydney are the short priced favourites in this one, $2.10 plays $3.00 here but with just the one win for both these sides, you can’t really say with confidence that either of these sides should coast in.
Macarthur could be a bit of value here, Macarthur FC has won four of its last five games as an underdog against Sydney FC.
I just can’t do it though, in a rare move for me, I’m backing the draw.
We wrap up Round 21’s proceedings on Sunday with the WSW hosting Perth Glory, the most one sided fixture this weekend in terms of betting markets.
It’s hard to argue though, the Glory have just the two wins to their name this season (which is still double the amount of wins Brisbane has).
The Wanderers could “technically” jump up as far as second place this weekend if a few other fixtures go their way. Highly unlikely but Western Sydney will do their part in all that with an easy win here over Perth.
