2024 US Open Championship Preview

2024 US Open Championship Preview

The 2024 US Open is set to take place at the prestigious course of Pinehurst No.2, with golfing fanatics worldwide set to tune in for a top-notch four days of golf.

The US Open is one of four major championships, and it’s always an outstanding spectacle to watch the best golfers in the world drive, chip and putt their way to the coveted US Open Championship Trophy.

Throughout the practice rounds, we’ve seen how truly challenging the course can be, and a strong approach game is required to jag some birdies and pars alike.

I’ve simulated the tournament on PGA 2K24 and here are my thoughts in the lead-up to the US Open Championship.

Best Bet – Bryson DeChambeau
To Win $19

By far my best of the tournament, the 2020 US Open winner played a superb game in the first two majors of the season – finishing sixth and second respectively, when he could have won on both occasions.

Like any $19 thoroughbred, DeChambeau is known for getting off to phenomenal starts, finishing with -7 at the Masters and -3 at the PGA Championships which makes me look at the value for the first-round leader.

His striking has been pristine, and matched with his well-tuned short game, I can just feel something brewing towards another major win.

Bryson DeChambeau To win: $19

Bryson DeChambeau To Finish Top 5: $5

Bryson DeChambeau To Lead After Round 1: $29

Best Value – Colin Morikawa
To Finish Top 5 $4

In the lead-up to the US Open, all eyes have been on Scottie Scheffler and no one has been talking about one of my favourite golfers on tour, Colin Morikawa.

Morikawa was in the final pairing for both the Masters and the PGA Championship this year, and I think he will be at his best this weekend.

He has three consecutive top 5 finishes, including a 2nd in the Memorial and a 4th in both the PGA Championship and the Charles Swabb Challenge, this man is due.

His striking has been a strength for the 27-year old and I believe there’s great value in backing Morikowa to finish in the top 5.

Colin Morikawa To Win: $15

Colin Morikawa To Finish Top 5: $4

Colin Morikawa To Finish Top 10: $2.50

Best Roughie – Max Homa
Top 10 Finish: $4.50

Without a shadow of a doubt, Max Homa is the best roughie in the field this weekend.

The six-time PGA Tour Winner steps up to his tee time with some decent form.

A tied-third at The Masters and top 10 finishes at the toughest courses Bay Hill and Quail Hollow shows that he has to what it takes to compete on the tricky courses.

A dabble on him to finish in the top 10 has shown value in the past, and I think he’ll be in or around the top 10.

Max Homa To Win: $41

Max Homa To Finish Top 5: $9

Max Homa To Finish Top 10: $4.50
