We can all quote the 12th Man\/Bill Lawry.<\/p>\n

“Canary yellow? That’s Australian Gold my friend and don’t you…forget it!”<\/p>\n

Yes, the canary yellow has served Australia well in the Cricket World Cup since they went the full pyjamas back in 1992.<\/p>\n

To celebrate the Cricket World Cup kicking off this week, we’ve gone ahead and ranked all of Australia’s World Cup kits.<\/p>\n

Only problem is, CA doesn’t like us using player likeness, or logos. So we’ve had to improvise and use players from Ricky Ponting International Cricket 2007, which Neds will be committing to for the entirety of the summer.<\/p>\n

(9) 1996<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

What on earth is going on with this kit?<\/p>\n

Peak mid 1990s fashion with everything, everywhere, a lot of gold, some sort of barcode mixed with a\u00a0 TV test pattern.<\/p>\n

It was also the last time we saw a cigarette sponsor on our shirt.<\/p>\n

We also lost to Sri Lanka in the final.<\/p>\n

Awful kit, Awful loss. Get in the bin.<\/p>\n

(8) – 2011<\/h3>\n

A forgettable and ordinary kit with a Quarter final exit for Australia. None of you remember this kit.<\/p>\n

(7) – 2015<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

A home World Cup presented the perfect opportunity for Australia to bring back the iconic 1992 kit.<\/p>\n

But what did we do?<\/p>\n

Australia went in a pretty stock-standard\u00a0 kit with with the standard canary yellow\/green combo but the added addition of the Commonwealth Star with the Southern Cross.<\/p>\n

While we won it, it won’t be a kit that people will be voting for in classic retro shirts to bring back in the future. Mark my words.<\/p>\n

(6) 2007<\/h3>\n

Some hate this kit but I don’t mind it.<\/p>\n

The exception being using plain ariel font for the Australia in the middle.<\/p>\n

Needed to be something a bit more bold for my liking, otherwise it’s not that bad a Cricket kit.<\/p>\n

The bright yellow Aussie shirts also provided lighting during the final as Keningston Oval in Barbados got darker and darker during Australia’s 53 run victory over Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n

(5) 2019<\/h3>\n

Australia went full-retro for their 2019 kit and I’m a fan.<\/p>\n

The Canary Yellow returned and was a resounding hit over in England.<\/p>\n

It’s just a shame this world cup is remembered for the poms cheating to win instead of this kit.<\/p>\n

(4) 2003<\/h3>\n

This was one of the great World Cup kits.<\/p>\n

In what was later immortalised in the talking Warnie doll (who missed the World Cup due to being suspended for taking his Mum’s Diet Pills), this kit had the solid spread of canary yellow, green and a decent southern cross.<\/p>\n

It was also from another winning World Cup campaign and the last time the acronym ACB would appear on the Australian Shirt, with the ACB rebranding to Cricket Australia straight after.<\/p>\n

(3) 2023<\/h3>\n

It’s simple, and effective.<\/p>\n

Australia have opted to play it safe with this kit and it honestly works really well.<\/p>\n

Could this be the kit we win the world cup in?<\/p>\n

(2) 1999<\/h3>\n

Who will ever forget South Africa stuffing up their chances with that run-out involving Allan Donald and Lance Klusener to end the semi-final?<\/p>\n

Many regard it as the best ODI of all time.<\/p>\n

Let alone our efforts against Pakistan in the final with Warnie taking 4 wickets from 33 runs and Gilly making a mockery of Pakistan with 54 of 36.<\/p>\n

That shirt remains in our memories and takes Aussie Cricket fans to a happy place.<\/p>\n

It’s even coming back next summer by popular demand and is worthy of being in the top order of Aussie World Cup Cricket kits.<\/p>\n

(1) 1992<\/h3>\n

Australia co-hosted this World Cup with New Zealand and it was the first time the coloured kits featured in a World Cup.<\/p>\n

The Aussie shirt looked great.<\/p>\n

In fact, everyone’s shirts looked pretty bloody good. Especially India and Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

Even the eventual winner, Pakistan’s shirt looked amazing.<\/p>\n
