The path to the 2026 Golden Rose Stakes<\/a> continues to take shape at Rosehill this Saturday with the traditional lead-up, the Group 2 Run to the Rose<\/a>, headlining the 10-race card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A quality crop of three-year-olds have accepted for the 1200m feature, complemented by open editions of both the Sheraco <\/a>and Theo Marks Stake<\/a>s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The forecast calls for a chance of showers earlier in the week, but we should be racing on a Good 4 if the rain stays away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He does have the tendency to over race, but Kerrin McEvoy is a key change in the irons on Saturday and one that could prove the difference.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A daughter to Sepoy, she came and won a BM78 over\u00a0100m\u00a0shorter here two back, before finding herself too far back to score in her latest assignment at Randwick from a slightly tricky gate.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Her overall record over\u00a01200m\u00a0isn\u2019t\u00a0much chop, but\u00a0she\u2019s\u00a0drawn to get the gun run along the rail with the claim helping her out at the weights.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She was incredibly brave all the way to the line at Randwick two weeks ago,\u00a0stoking up\u00a0three-wide at the bend to kick clear when it mattered for a narrow victory.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So far,\u00a0she\u2019s\u00a0handled every step up in grade in her stride, and with her runs spaced, she should still have the legs to compete here with the potential for another wet track suiting.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Whether 1500m is a little too sharp for her fresh is the question, but\u00a0she\u2019s\u00a0no doubt a mare with\u00a0talent,\u00a0even her trials have only been average leading in.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Barrier 2 gives her every shot to get right back in the run and potentially\u00a0cause\u00a0a bit of a late upset under James McDonald working home off the speed.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Freedman-trained colt was runner-up here over a touch shorter in behind Plagiarism last month, giving good chase in the end to rattle off a slick final\u00a0200m\u00a0sectional in the process.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Previously, he won his maiden on a very wet track at Newcastle and if there is any chance of rain on Saturday,\u00a0he\u2019ll\u00a0be even better suited.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

APOCALYPTIC (3)<\/strong> has earned a mulligan based on some of her\u00a0previous\u00a0results.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She was sent around in the Toy Show Quality<\/a> first-up at Randwick over\u00a01100m\u00a0two weeks ago where not a great deal went to plan, landing too far back in the field after being bumped out of the gates.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In saying that, she was strong down the straight on her way to grabbing third and was brilliant second-up this time last year when she came out won the Tea Rose\u00a0Stakes<\/a> by a good margin.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Potentially\u00a0benefiting\u00a0from the inside gate this time, she should be closer in the run and much more like the mare we came to know last spring.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

UNDER FOCUS (12)<\/strong> might be over the odds I feel in this year\u2019s Run\u00a0To\u00a0The\u00a0Rose<\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She was the run of the race for mine in The Rosebud<\/a> two weeks ago in behind Chilly Girl, making up a mountain of ground from a very tricky alley down the outside part of the straight to smoke the line late for sixth.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This is just her second run\u00a0back\u00a0and I love that\u00a0she\u2019s\u00a0had a trial between runs. We got a good look at her turn of foot earlier in the year when she won her maiden at Kensington, so on potential, she measures up.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s\u00a0been a few months since he went around\u00a0at\u00a0Eagle Farm to claim the\u00a0Gunsynd\u00a0Classic over the mile, and I felt there was a lot to like about his recent trial win despite the fact\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0untried over the\u00a01300m\u00a0trip.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kerrin McEvoy returning to the saddle is a big plus\u00a0though\u00a0and you know\u00a0he\u2019ll\u00a0appreciate any cut in the ground. Against an average field, he looks very well-placed.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

PILLOW FLIGHT (11)<\/strong> made a bad habit of finishing runner-up last time in work, but she could be a decent value play at double-figure odds based on some of her recent trials.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Zoustar\u00a0mare split the talented Sass Appeal and Salty Pearl last time out at Flemington and now goes around the blinkers off looking to add to a growing first-up record.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a01200m\u00a0trip is short of her best, but her recent trials suggest\u00a0she\u2019s\u00a0forward enough and ready to run another honest race under Rachel King.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
