Rosehill hosts a full ten-race program this Saturday with Winter Cup Day headlined by the Group feature, the Queen Elizabeth II Cup, formerly known as the Winter Cup, one of the standout staying tests of the Sydney winter.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The race has developed a fascinating recent history, with the Waterhouse and Bott stable claiming three of the past five editions, though they will not be represented this year, leaving the door open for new challengers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chris Waller, who has taken out three of the past six runnings, does hold a hand once again and looks poised to play a major role in shaping the finish.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With fine weather forecast, Rosehill should present in ideal order, setting the stage for genuinely run races and giving every runner their chance across what shapes as a competitive and high quality card. <\/p>\n\n\n

The Gary Portelli-trained\u00a0gelding was slow\u00a0away on debut at Wagga before finding the line powerfully to finish 1.3 lengths second with a gap to third.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He went one better last start when fighting like a tiger to salute narrowly over\u00a01200m\u00a0at Randwick.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He\u2019ll\u00a0strip fitter third-up\u00a0and Siena Grima\u2019s 2kg claim comes in handy.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Robert & Luke Price-trained gelding made short work of the wide draw to cross and lead before fighting strongly to win by just under a length.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That followed a neck second when resuming at Kembla\u00a0Grange,\u00a0so\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0come\u00a0back\u00a0this preparation in good form.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He\u2019s\u00a0armed with early speed\u00a0so\u00a0can take advantage of the good barrier and will carry 1kg less than\u00a0last\u00a0start thanks to Molly Fitzgerald\u2019s claim.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Stirling Oswald-trained gelding opened his campaign with a win at Armidale before racing flat second-up with a large impost.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He recorded the fastest closing sectionals of the race last start when finishing fourth to runaway winner Midnight Dynamite in a significantly stronger class race at Eagle Farm.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There looks to be good speed in the race which should see Ash Morgan settle off before launching.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

NOBLER (5)<\/span><\/b>\u00a0is racing in a rich vein of form and is chasing his third consecutive win.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Chris\u00a0Waller-trained gelding found the line strongly on ANZAC Day to defeat Brisbane Cup\u00a0favourite\u00a0Bella\u00a0Montagna and win by a neck.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He impressed last start over a mile at Gosford when settling a distant last before rocketing home to salute by just under a half-length.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This is his first Australian start over\u00a02000m\u00a0but he did win and place over similar distance in Ireland and the way he finds the\u00a0line suggests he\u00a0won\u2019t\u00a0have a problem.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A recent trial will\u00a0have fitted\u00a0him nicely.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She drew the car park last start over this distance at Randwick and proved costly as she worked home well to finish just under a length third in a stronger race.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Brendan McCarthy-trained gelding returned for his second preparation last start at Caulfield Heath where he was sent out as a\u00a0$1.30\u00a0favourite\u00a0and\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0disappoint, proving too strong over\u00a01200m.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He\u2019ll\u00a0strip fitter second-up and while this is his toughest assignment to date, it must be respected that\u00a0his trainer has brought him north from his Victorian base.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There\u00a0looks\u00a0to be good speed in the race which includes him, but Regan Bayliss will have options to either lead or take a\u00a0sit\u00a0from the good gate.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Nathan Doyle-trained gelding has been in outstanding form this preparation, winning all three starts. He may have produced his best performance last time out, stepping up to his toughest assignment yet and showing great toughness to hold off the fast-finishing Nitro,\u00a0scoring by\u00a0a neck.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He\u2019s\u00a0been back to the trials since his last win and produced a slick piece of work to suggest\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0ready for this rise in class.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She found the front last start over\u00a01600m\u00a0at\u00a0Doomben\u00a0but was picked off in the closing stages to finish a half-length second. The form from that race has\u00a0stacked\u00a0up\u00a0with the fourth placed\u00a0horse\u00a0subsequently\u00a0winning impressively.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Braith Nock, who claims 1.5kg, can give her every chance from the good draw with an on pace run.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
