Caulfield has our attention for the second straight Saturday with the Group 1 William Reid Stakes<\/a> headlining the billing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A sharp field of 11 has accepted for the 1200m feature, and we’ve got some of Australia’s top sprinters engaged with Rey Magnerio, Baraqiel, last week’s winner Jigsaw, and multiple Group 1 winner Jimmysstar all lining up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other key races include the Sunline Stakes<\/a>, where Treasurethe Moment has been installed as a short-priced favourite, and the Alister Clark Stakes<\/a> later on the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael Kent\u2019s galloper was runner-up here at Caulfield over\u00a02000m\u00a0fresh, then venturing to Sandown last time out where he was held up at a crucial stage, eventually finishing midfield.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The form from that contest has seen the winner Hurry Curry go on to place in\u00a0a Group\u00a02 at\u00a0Morphettville, while the runner-up Bright Legend won the Torney Cup at Pakenham two weeks ago.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Drawn well again and down at the weights,\u00a0he\u2019ll\u00a0be difficult to hold out if given the right ride working off the speed.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After debuting at Flemington last year, the son of Capitalist has gone to another level this prep, winning his maiden well at Pakenham first-up and then tackling the SA Magic Millions at Murray Bridge where he was\u00a0brave\u00a0all the way through the line for a solid four length win.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Off that, the rise to\u00a01200m\u00a0looks\u00a0ideal\u00a0third-up and with most of these on debut, he should have a fitness edge.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This is a decent step up in trip for the filly\u00a0by\u00a0So You Think, but\u00a0we\u2019ve\u00a0already seen her handle the trip quite comfortably when she came out and won the Group 2 Edward Manifold<\/a> over the spring last year.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This is a big step up in class, but she\u2019s got fitness on her side compared to the other key chances and maps to find the front again from the inside alley in the Don Casboult Classic<\/a> field.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now a three-time Group 1 winner, Ciaron Maher\u2019s gelding continues to age like a fine wine, and his first-up record (five wins, one place) supports the current odds-on offer as a short-priced favourite.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

His spring resume includes a third to Ka Ying Rising in The Everest<\/a>, followed by a\u00a0Stakes win at Randwick into a dominant CF Orr Stakes<\/a> victory over the\u00a01400m\u00a0trip here at Caulfield.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Slight query over\u00a02000m\u00a0for the first time, but\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0been strong through the line on each occasion, suggesting he can handle it. Maps to get a lovely cart into the race from midfield and looks incredibly hard to beat.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She\u00a0hasn\u2019t\u00a0been quite\u00a0the\u00a0same horse that saw her win 4\/4 to start her career last time\u00a0in\u00a0work, but willing to bet two runs over\u00a01200m\u00a0does her some good as she gets out over her pet trip now carrying only 54kg.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
