The Bendigo Jockey Club will play host to its biggest race day of the year on Wednesday with nine races making up the program. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Group 3 Bendigo Cup<\/a> worth $500,000 is the main feature, the winner potentially set to line up in next Tuesday\u2019s $8.5 million Melbourne Cup<\/a> at Flemington. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mrs Archibald is the most experienced filly in the field with five starts next to her name. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She returned in terrific order at Moe close to two weeks ago over 100m further, stalking the lead and letting down with a strong turn of foot to find the line for second. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There was a good gap back to third, and she should appreciate getting back on top of the ground now with the blinkers reapplied and the inside gate working in her favour. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bay Of Zea is third-up for Liam Howley and ready to peak.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The lightly-raced mare by Shalaa went around over the track and distance a few weeks ago from an identical gate, a run that never went to plan given she reared at the start and was forced to race wide from the 800m mark onwards.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She was beaten 6.6 lengths in the end but is a much better chance in this race after finishing runner-up to both Isthmus and Niance last time in work \u2013 form that has held up quite well since. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If she can find cover this time with Ethan Brown taking over in the saddle, she\u2019ll be tough to hold out with the right run off the speed. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Race 3 – 1:50PM Big Als Water BM64 Handicap (2400 METRES)\u00a0<\/div>\n

Foix is a classy stayer that should see out 2400m in his stride. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ciaron Maher\u2019s five-year-old cantered home for a cozy 2.5 length maiden win at Cranbourne last month where he enjoyed a favourable just outside the leader. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This is tougher again up to BM64 grade, but two runs over 2000m stack up nicely for him in terms of fitness. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There doesn\u2019t appear to be a great deal of early speed on paper, so a slow race would suit if he can get back under John Allen and save his best for late. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Keen to give Savvyrocker a bit of a mulligan after a forgettable first-up performance at Caulfield a few weeks ago. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman\u2019s filly was last to greet the judge after being passed fit to run at the barriers, beginning awkwardly and never really finding top gear in the go for home. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That said, she was runner-up to Supercilious at Sandown back in July, a filly that has gone on to find the money at Group and Listed level more recently. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Drawn a better gate this time and up slightly in trip, this girl looks well placed to bounce back into the winner\u2019s stall. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Floozie has gone up a little on the short side, but at her best, she should be winning a race like this. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Out of the Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr yard, this daughter of Zoustar stamped herself as a filly worth following when she won her maiden by over three lengths at Mornington this time last year, and has more recently gone on to run well in Saturday grade races at Caulfield. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Twice placed first-up, she could be in need of the run fresh, but off her recent jump out performances, she looks ready to rock and roll.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sure saw his unbeaten streak come to an end first-up over the track and distance, despite running on late down the outside for third. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The gelding by So You Think took a little while to shift through the gears from a long way back, but he should be much better for the run considering he was fresh from a five-month spell. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

His two previous wins at Pakenham and Caulfield speak for themselves, and with a slightly better gate at his disposal on this occasion, it\u2019s fair to say he might be one of the better bets on the program. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sea King should see his fair share of support in a typically open edition of the Bendigo Cup. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The overseas raider is making his first start in Australia in time for next Tuesday\u2019s Melbourne Cup, and with his latest effort coming in the Ebor Handicap at York where he finished sixth, it\u2019s hard to argue with the case he presents. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The form out of that race was franked last week when Onesmoothoperator \u2013 who finished seventh behind Sea King – came out and won the Geelong Cup by a couple of lengths. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

First-up over 2400m presents no issue for mine, especially with plenty of cover likely provided by the soft gate. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Winning form is good form, and that\u2019s exactly what Mantua brings with him to the races. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ciaron Maher\u2019s four-year-old by Fastnet Rock is a consistent type, evidenced a couple of weeks ago at Seymour when he ran on late for second behind Along The River after a slow start. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He\u2019s deep into his prep and rock-hard fit, and while this is a slight step up in grade, the 2kg drop in the saddle under Ethan Brown is an enormous plus. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The game is slightly against him, but Easy Dun still looks the likely improver heading into this race. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He\u2019s another one slightly on the short side, but the son of Dundeel should take beating with even luck this time down the straight. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

His first-up effort saw him held up for a run at the top of the straight over the same distance at Ballarat, seen doing his best work through the line in a run that indicated he might be wanting further. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Providing 1400m isn\u2019t too short now, he\u2019ll be winning with some big relief at the weights. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
