English Premier League Kit Rankings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new Premier League season is just around the corner and that can only mean one thing\u2026 every club is rolling out its new kits for the following season.<\/p>\n<p>Here at Neds we could do a Premier League season preview and tell you who is going to win the title (Manchester City) or who is going to finish stone dead last (Burnley), but there\u2019s only one set of rankings that matter: which club has the best set of kits.<\/p>\n<p>As we did in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.neds.com.au\/blog\/2019\/08\/2019-2020-premier-league-kit-rankings\/\">2019<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.neds.com.au\/blog\/2020\/09\/2020-2021-premier-league-kit-rankings\/\">2020<\/a>, the entire Neds staff (or near enough to) have gone through the 46 kits released (so far) and ranked each club\u2019s effort ahead of Arsenal and Brentford getting the season underway on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p>So without further ado, from worst to first, this is what we came up with.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>20 \u2013 Chelsea<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This is quite possibly the worst kit in Premier League history.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/Tweet.html?id=1393606570764800001&#038;dnt=true&#038;lang=en_AU&#038;width=500&#038;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.neds.com.au%2Fblog%2F2021%2F08%2F2021-2022-english-premier-league-kit-rankings%2F\" scrolling=\"no\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\" loading=\"lazy\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" style=\"border:0;\" title=\"X Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Worse than City\u2019s pink and yellow third shirt, worse than United\u2019s zebra kit last year.<\/p>\n<p>It looks like they couldn\u2019t decide between two patterns, was it meant to be blocks or waves?<\/p>\n<p>Did they hold a vote on the preferred option and put the percentages on the kit?<\/p>\n<p>On the plus side their away effort is much better with this seemingly German inspired yellow and black pattern.<\/p>\n<p><iframe Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It at least saves the club from a completely embarrassing effort this season.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>19 \u2013 Burnley<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Burnley\u2019s kit creators have been massively let down by whoever signed off on those sleeves.<\/p>\n<p><iframe scrolling=\"no\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\" loading=\"lazy\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" style=\"border:0;\" title=\"X Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The face in that photo really says it all.<\/p>\n<p>If only we could have seen the disappointment when they revealed this away kit<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/Tweet.html?id=1421501409586040833&#038;dnt=true&#038;lang=en_AU&#038;width=500&#038;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.neds.com.au%2Fblog%2F2021%2F08%2F2021-2022-english-premier-league-kit-rankings%2F\" scrolling=\"no\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\" loading=\"lazy\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" style=\"border:0;\" title=\"X Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s not a lot of hope about Burnley this season and the away kit looks like someone signed off on the base design without actually going anything beyond selecting the colours.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe they will have better kits when they are playing in the Championship next season.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>18 \u2013 Newcastle<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This kit has \u201cBetter never stops\u201d on it but maybe it should have at least taken a break.<\/p>\n<p>Just because you can go for a different look does not mean you should.<\/p>\n<p>To steal a line from the self righteous mob on Twitter etc, \u201cbe better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>On the plus side I love almost everything about this away shirt with the wavy lines.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/Tweet.html?id=1421002671734018049&#038;dnt=true&#038;lang=en_AU&#038;width=500&#038;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.neds.com.au%2Fblog%2F2021%2F08%2F2021-2022-english-premier-league-kit-rankings%2F\" scrolling=\"no\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\" loading=\"lazy\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" style=\"border:0;\" title=\"X Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It might screw up the picture on a few TV screens when the players get a close up but that\u2019s just a minor gripe.<\/p>\n<p>And frankly we will live with that.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>17 \u2013 Crystal Palace<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Palace might have won the \u201cbest kit reveal\u201d contest for this production with their home shirt.<\/p>\n<p><iframe scrolling=\"no\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\" loading=\"lazy\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" style=\"border:0;\" title=\"X Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>On the plus side there is a bit of variety compared to last season\u2019s copy-paste efforts, but that\u2019s about where the positives stop.<\/p>\n<p><iframe scrolling=\"no\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\" loading=\"lazy\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" style=\"border:0;\" title=\"X Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Their home one is fine, changing things up a bit from their vertical stripes and the yellow away shirt is the best of the bunch.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately their grade is dragged down by one of the few confirmed third kits which is simply atrocious.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>16 \u2013 Liverpool<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Nike just have not been able to get a Liverpool home kit right since they made the switch.<\/p>\n<p><iframe Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s an improvement on last season\u2019s mint trim red effort but still plenty of room for growth.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/Tweet.html?id=1413033861789913089&#038;dnt=true&#038;lang=en_AU&#038;width=500&#038;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.neds.com.au%2Fblog%2F2021%2F08%2F2021-2022-english-premier-league-kit-rankings%2F\" scrolling=\"no\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\" loading=\"lazy\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" style=\"border:0;\" title=\"X Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This away shirt on the other hand looks superb and gets high marks.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the fan base will continue to be one of the most unbearable in all of sport parroting \u201c6 times\u201d and \u201c19 titles\u201d over and over in these shirts.<\/p>\n<p>A bigger person would not let that impact the grade\u2026 but I\u2019m not interested in being the bigger person.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>15 \u2013 West Ham United<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Why, why, why did any of these collar designs get approved?<\/p>\n<p>It ruins the aesthetic and just doesn\u2019t work.<\/p>\n<p><iframe scrolling=\"no\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\" loading=\"lazy\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" style=\"border:0;\" title=\"X Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Their entire range for the current season can be summed up with the simple phrase of \u201coh so close.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The collar ruins three otherwise strong kits, especially on the third where it looks like the claret and blue strip accidentally got put on the front.<\/p>\n<h3>14 \u2013 Everton<\/h3>\n<p>The best thing you can say about Everton\u2019s home kit is that it is different.<\/p>\n<p><iframe scrolling=\"no\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\" loading=\"lazy\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" style=\"border:0;\" title=\"X Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately their home kit was excellent last season so this was always going to be a downgrade.<\/p>\n<p>Were it not for the yellow trim it would have been graded a lot higher.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a good thing Essendon is not as petty as another Aussie Rules club.<\/p>\n<p><iframe scrolling=\"no\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\" loading=\"lazy\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" style=\"border:0;\" title=\"X Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Were they as bitter as that other club, the sash would be considered to be a rip off of the Bombers home strip and an injunction would surely be filed in court.<\/p>\n<p>Some Toffees fans may not appreciate any shade of red on one of their kits, but the sash looks good.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/Tweet.html?id=1421078816215154690&#038;dnt=true&#038;lang=en_AU&#038;width=500&#038;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.neds.com.au%2Fblog%2F2021%2F08%2F2021-2022-english-premier-league-kit-rankings%2F\" scrolling=\"no\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\" loading=\"lazy\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" style=\"border:0;\" title=\"X Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s not a lot to hate about this third kit either.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s got enough going on to not be boring (which is the worst thing you can say about a third kit) but it looks good enough that you\u2019d be happy to wear it yourself.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>13 \u2013 Watford<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>One of the proverbial yo-yo clubs is back in the top flight and you\u2019ll be hard pressed to miss this yellow and black effort.<\/p>\n<p><iframe scrolling=\"no\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\" loading=\"lazy\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" style=\"border:0;\" title=\"X Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s not a lot to hate about it, but not a lot to get really excited about either.<\/p>\n<p>As for their striking red away strip, it\u2019s another stand out attempt at getting noticed<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/Tweet.html?id=1421161166982766597&#038;dnt=true&#038;lang=en_AU&#038;width=500&#038;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.neds.com.au%2Fblog%2F2021%2F08%2F2021-2022-english-premier-league-kit-rankings%2F\" scrolling=\"no\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\" loading=\"lazy\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" style=\"border:0;\" title=\"X Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>But like the home kit, there\u2019s not a whole lot to hate about it.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>12 \u2013 Brighton<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We\u2019ve already seen this kit in action in the Premier League with Brighton being one of the clubs that engaged in the befuddling practice of releasing the next season\u2019s kit before the conclusion of the prior one.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/Tweet.html?id=1395338764596125703&#038;dnt=true&#038;lang=en_AU&#038;width=500&#038;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.neds.com.au%2Fblog%2F2021%2F08%2F2021-2022-english-premier-league-kit-rankings%2F\" scrolling=\"no\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\" loading=\"lazy\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" style=\"border:0;\" title=\"X Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a fine effort, returning to a traditional design but it was always going to be a downgrade on last season\u2019s winning effort.<\/p>\n<p>As for the away kit, I like the pattern Nike have gone with, but the weird aqua-green colour has drawn mixed reviews in the office.<\/p>\n<p><iframe Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>While still not confirmed by the club, the Premier League website has declared that last year\u2019s yellow away kit will be recycled as the third one this season.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/Tweet.html?id=1299636236571865090&#038;dnt=true&#038;lang=en_AU&#038;width=500&#038;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.neds.com.au%2Fblog%2F2021%2F08%2F2021-2022-english-premier-league-kit-rankings%2F\" scrolling=\"no\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\" loading=\"lazy\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" style=\"border:0;\" title=\"X Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Not only is this a huge win for the fans who don\u2019t feel like buying three new jerseys every season, it\u2019s also an excellent shirt.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>11 \u2013 Wolves<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A change in manufacturer for Wolves results in a new kit design that looks decent on first inspection.<\/p>\n<p><iframe Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The further you look into it however, the more that strip on the side of the ribcage bugs me.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s not a lot to pick apart about this away jersey however.<\/p>\n<p><iframe Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Were I a Wolves fan this is definitely the one I would be buying this season.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>10 \u2013 Aston Villa<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Claret and blue is not exactly a flattering combination, even for the finely tuned athletes at Aston Villa.<\/p>\n<p><iframe Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The two tone bars over the body are what makes it and the players look happy to be there for the coming season.<\/p>\n<p>Oh there\u2019s a picture of Jack Grealish\u2026 this is awkward.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s move on to the away strip.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/Tweet.html?id=1421071124436242432&#038;dnt=true&#038;lang=en_AU&#038;width=500&#038;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.neds.com.au%2Fblog%2F2021%2F08%2F2021-2022-english-premier-league-kit-rankings%2F\" scrolling=\"no\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\" loading=\"lazy\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" style=\"border:0;\" title=\"X Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Perhaps the best description of this kit is it is \u201cfine\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Not too ambitious but the colour scheme does limit their options.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>9 \u2013 Arsenal<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>I\u2019ll be honest, I really don\u2019t like the navy shoulder stripes on this one.<\/p>\n<p><iframe scrolling=\"no\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\" loading=\"lazy\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" style=\"border:0;\" title=\"X Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The rest of the kit is fine and the hooped socks look excellent so it settles as a middling effort.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately for them, Adidas set a really high bar with their initial efforts in 2019\/2020 and just haven\u2019t been able to replicate that.<\/p>\n<p>Arsenal\u2019s away effort is very nice and it brings up their overall score.<\/p>\n<p><iframe scrolling=\"no\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\" loading=\"lazy\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" style=\"border:0;\" title=\"X Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Sure some people consider the bright colours a bit much but they aren\u2019t doing these rankings.<\/p>\n<p>While the home and away strips are decent, this third kit is phenomenal.<\/p>\n<p><iframe every Arsenal fan is hoping this placing is not a prediction of where their actual football will have them sitting come May.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>8 \u2013 Manchester City<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>City\u2019s insistence on reminding us about how they won the Premier League 10 years ago with 93:20 on the clock is fast approaching Liverpool fans repeatedly saying how many Champions League titles they have won on the irritating scale.<\/p>\n<p><iframe Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Yes it\u2019s an anniversary but the guy responsible for that moment is in Barcelona (and injured again).<\/p>\n<p>This design is an improvement on their previous two efforts but it\u2019s far from their best one.<\/p>\n<p>It just sits a bit too close to \u201ctraining top\u201d to cross over from average to good.<\/p>\n<p>We will pause for a moment for the backroom staff at City who will have to wash this all white away kit.<\/p>\n<p><iframe the white.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>7 \u2013 Tottenham<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Spurs have gone with a back to basics look for 2021\/2022 and while some may call it boring, it looks good.<\/p>\n<p>What a shame this will be the only time Kane wears that shirt.<\/p>\n<p><iframe their away one suffers from an excess of personality.<\/p>\n<p><iframe Brentford<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Bees will play in the Premier League for the first time in 2021\/2022 and they will stick with this traditional club look.<\/p>\n<p><iframe Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>While the candy stripes are nothing new, when kept simple they are one of the best designs going.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll know Brentford are the away side with this bright ensemble for the away kit.<\/p>\n<p><iframe Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s clean, simple and best of all it looks good.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s hope we\u2019re doing a review of their follow up effort in 12 months.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>5 \u2013 Leicester<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In terms of home kits, this is easily one of the best in the Premier League.<\/p>\n<p><iframe Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It even earned the admiration of some other clubs as well.<\/p>\n<p>In an unrelated award, the winner for the most obvious tweet of the preseason is Leicester.<\/p>\n<p><iframe not be the most interesting team on the pitch but their kits this year are sublime.<\/p>\n<p><iframe Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In fact they are the perfect candidate for \u201cthis is the highest they will be on any Premier League table\u201d joke.<\/p>\n<p>Their away strip sticks with the winning formula but does lose points for the massive overlapping collar.<\/p>\n<p>All black with red trim on the third strip is a huge winner.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019ll at least look good in their likely relegation battle.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>3 \u2013 Leeds<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>You have to make a major effort to screw up a Leeds kit and thankfully Adidas decided to go with a look most people will like.<\/p>\n<p><iframe Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Like pretty much every big band from the 80\u2019s &amp; 90\u2019s, just play the hits.<\/p>\n<p>As for the away kit, apparently Leeds REALLY liked Leicester\u2019s home kit.<\/p>\n<p><iframe Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s basically a copy &amp; paste effort but they picked a good design to replicate.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>2 \u2013 Norwich<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>I\u2019ve always had a bit of soft spot for Norwich and its home kit.<\/p>\n<p><iframe Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This is another one I\u2019m very fond of with the green and yellow combination\u2026 possibly from the Tokyo spirit.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s always a bit of a risk following the same design for the home and away kits but Norwich have aced this year\u2019s design.<\/p>\n<p><iframe Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s really not anything to even nitpick about this one, it\u2019s awesome.<\/p>\n<p>Norwich opted to change the design up for their third kit and have gone with this coral (faded salmon?) colour.<\/p>\n<p><iframe Post\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s another big winner for me and the collar is the only minor, pedantic grips that stops it taking out top spot.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>1 \u2013 Manchester United<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>United is bringing back a classic look for their kits this season and the home and away combination is the best in the league.<\/p>\n<p><iframe praise on the home kit there are not many more superlatives that can be put out for the away strip.<\/p>\n<p><iframe
