The Group 3 Aurie’s Star<\/a> has attracted a nice field of horses to headquarters on Saturday.<\/p>\n

South Pacific is ready to win after two nice runs in Australia so far this prep.<\/p>\n

He was beaten less than a length behind Exemplar last time out over the 2800m at Flemington and he should be ready to peak at his third run.<\/p>\n

Three year old filly Yes Baby Yes was excellent on debut when running fourth behind Diala at Sandown.<\/p>\n

She was then no match for them at Group 3 level at Morphettville before being freshened up and comfortably winning at Seymour.<\/p>\n

The stable clearly has a high opinion of her as she is nominated for the Thousand Guineas<\/a> and she will appreciate the step up in distance for this assignment.<\/p>\n

Flinders River scored by 1.3 lengths in a two year old open grade race at Caulfield last start over the 1400m.<\/p>\n

He ran right through the line suggesting that the step up in distance should not be an issue and he has drawn perfectly in barrier two.<\/p>\n

Winning Partner has been racing very consistently this prep and he again finds a very winnable race here.<\/p>\n

He was very narrowly denied last time out at The Valley by Alsvin and despite the step up in distance and awkward draw, he is every chance to win his fifth race.<\/p>\n

This is a really tricky little race to asses but Laburnum represents some value to my eye.<\/p>\n

He has put in two pretty solid performances so far this prep and it usually take her a little while to get into her racing.<\/p>\n

She should be ready to peak now and she will appreciate the drop in weight for this assignment.<\/p>\n

I’m really happy that they have dropped this horse back down to Group 3 company after trying and failing at two Group 1 races during the Autumn.<\/p>\n

He is a very talented horse by More Than Ready who races well fresh and I think we are getting overs in this first up assignment.<\/p>\n

Cadre Du Noir was impressive when making his Australian debut at The Valley on the heavy track and again looks well placed in this event.<\/p>\n

He will only improve on that effort and the step up in distance should not be a problem.<\/p>\n

Chicago Cub went from strength to strength last prep, working his way through the grades well.<\/p>\n

He finished with three wins from his last four runs including winning at this track and grade to close out his campaign.<\/p>\n

He is a very talented horse and I believe he can measure up in black type company during the spring.<\/p>\n

Savvy Lad has managed two wins and three minor placings from seven career race starts.<\/p>\n

His first up effort behind Mystery Shot at Caulfield was full of merit finishing third, beaten 1.6 lengths.<\/p>\n

He will appreciate the step down in grade and step up in distance for this assignment and he can finish our day on a winning note.<\/p>\n
