    Anemacore ($2.80F)\u00a0<\/strong>produced a powerful, class-filled performance to take out the\u00a02026 Sunshine Coast Cup<\/strong>\u00a0for the locals on Saturday, storming home from the back with a wide run late to justify his favouritism and finally deliver on the talent his stable has long believed he possesses. Ridden patiently by\u00a0Michael Rodd<\/strong>, the Shaun Dwyer\u2011trained gelding had only a handful of runners behind him at the 300m but unleashed a brilliant finishing burst to sweep past the field down the outside and score by\u00a01.25 lengths<\/strong>, confirming his status as a genuine stakes\u2011grade performer. The win was all the more impressive given his interrupted career \u2014 including a bleeding attack last year \u2014 and now with six victories and a stack of placings to his name, Anemacore looks set for bigger targets, with connections already eyeing a Stradbroke campaign in Brisbane over the winter.<\/p>\n\n\n

    The Sunshine Coast Cup is a 1400m Listed event held at Queensland’s Caloundra Racecourse on the Sunshine Coast in late January each summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Traditionally held around the Australia Day long weekend, the race is a quality handicap offering $160,000 in total prize money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A number of horses in the Sunshine Coast Cup field may come via a lead-up run from the Gold Coast’s Magic Millions Race Day card a fortnight earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The $1 million Magic Millions Snippets <\/a>(1200m) makes a decent Sunshine Coat Cup lead-up race and Scallopini (6th in 2022) was the last Sunshine Coast Cup winner to come via that event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
