    The 2025 Chautauqua Stakes was won by four-year-old Harry Angel horse Angel Capital at $2.10 favouritism for trainer Chris Waller with jockey Damian Lane aboard on 56kg from barrier 2 to win by 3.75 lengths on a Good (4) track in a time of 1:09.86.<\/p>\n\n

    The Chautauqua Stakes is a Listed sprint race currently contested at Moonee Valley Racecourse in early September on Moir Stakes Day having been moved back to its traditional place following a run in late October on Moonee Valley Gold Cup Night in 2023.<\/p>\n

    A popular Black-Type event held during the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, the event takes place over 1200m and is a quality handicap showdown.<\/p>\n

    Offering $175,000 in prize money, the Chautauqua Stakes is registered as the Chandler Macleod Stakes <\/strong>and\u00a0was renamed in 2021 in honour of three-time Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes<\/a> champion, the ‘Grey Flash, Chautauqua.<\/p>\n

    The showdown previously served as a potential lead-up to the Group 1 $2 million Manikato Stakes<\/a> (1200m) back at the track in October. In 2021 Bella Nipotina finished runner-up in both the Chautauqua Stakes and the Manikato Stakes results.<\/p>\n

    In 2023 the Chautauqua Stakes ran on the Friday night before the Manikato was held the next day as part of the Cox Plate Day<\/a> program.<\/p>\n

    Since 2024, the race has run on Moir Stakes Day in early September.<\/p>\n
