Note: The Mornington Cup distance changed from 2000m to 2400m in 2008.<\/p>\n

Each year the Mornington Cup winner is exempt from ballot for that spring’s Group 1 Caulfield Cup<\/a> (2400m).<\/p>\n

The last multiple Mornington Cup winner was three-time champion Gunnamatta (2002, 2003, 2004).<\/p>\n

Voile D’Or (2001) was the last Mornington Cup winning mare.<\/p>\n

Berisha holds the current Mornington Cup record over 2400m winning in 2016 in a time of 2 minutes 25:42 seconds.<\/p>\n

The 2023 Mornington Cup winner<\/strong> was the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Right You Are<\/strong> ($5) who narrowly defeated fellow $5 shot Hezashocka in a thrilling photo-finish.<\/p>\n

The 2024 Mornington Cup winner was the nine-year-old Matthew Smith-trained Esti Feny ($31)\u00a0<\/strong>who improved on a lead-up eighth in the Group 1 Australian Cup to post a dominant win and claim the Caulfield Cup ballot exemption.<\/p>\n

The 2025 Mornington Cup winner was seven-year-old Mongolian Khan gelding Bankers Choice ($10) <\/strong>for trainer Glen Thompson with jockey Daniel Stackhouse aboard on 57kg from barrier 3 to win by 0.06 lengths in a time of 2:29.40.<\/p>\n

The 2026 Mornington Cup winner was five-year-old Territories gelding Kings Valley at $6.50 <\/strong>for trainer Ciaron Maher with jockey Lachlan Neindorf aboard on 54kg from barrier 6 to win by 0.2 lengths on a Good (4) track in a time of 2:30.59.<\/p>\n
