    Jockey James McDonald set a new all-time Group 1 record riding his 130th elite level champion in the\u00a02026 Rosehill Guineas results<\/strong>\u00a0on Saturday thanks to a huge third-up performance by the Chris Waller-trained\u00a0Autumn Boy ($2.45)<\/strong>, winner of the spring\u2019s Caulfield Guineas, who returned to winning form with a soft two-length victory in his maiden 2000m test.<\/p>\n\n\n

    The Group 1 Rosehill Guineas is a 2000m event contested at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse by a top field of three-year-old staying types each Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Contested at set weights and offering $750,000 in prize money, the event has been run and won since 1910 and is now a key support act on the hugely popular Golden Slipper Stakes Race Day in March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Group 1 Randwick Guineas<\/a> (1600m) is the key lead-up into this event and the last horse to do the double was The Autumn Sun (2019).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In 2022 the Randwick Guineas quinella of Converge and Anamoe ran top two again in the Rosehill Guineas results but in reverse order with Anamoe a dominant seven length champion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The following year the Chris Waller-trained Lindermann (2023) also ran second in the Randwick Guineas before his Rosehill Guineas success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Anamoe would return in the spring of 2022 to win five Group 1 races on the trot including the $5 million Ladbrokes Cox Plate<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The 2024 Rosehill Guineas winner Riff Rocket handed trainer Chris Waller with back-to-back wins when posting a second Group 1 victory after his Victoria Derby success the spring prior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Rosehill Guineas winner is also exempt from ballot for the Group 1 Australian Derby<\/a> (2400m) at Randwick in April with Riff Rocket (2024) the last to do the Rosehill Guineas – ATC Derby double<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The 2025 Rosehill Guineas turned out to be a serious form race, producing that year\u2019s ATC Derby winner \u2014 with runner\u2011up Aeliana coming out next start and smashing the boys by five lengths in the 2400m Group 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Waller would win the 2026 Rosehill Guineas with that year’s Randwick Guineas runner-up Autumn Boy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
