    Run over 1,100 metres each March at Rosehill Gardens, the Group 1 The Galaxy is the feature sprint race on Golden Slipper Day in Sydney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    With a $1,000,000 prize purse as of 2023, the event is a popular short-distance showdown every autumn and makes a nice target for graduates out of the Group 2 Challenge Stakes<\/a> (1000m). Eduardo (2021) was the last sprinter to complete the Challenge Stakes – The Galaxy double<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Following The Galaxy race, many horses may continue onto Randwick’s Group 1 T.J. Smith Stakes<\/a> (1200m) during April’s ‘The Championships’. The Galaxy winner is in fact exempt from ballot for the TJ Smith Stakes each autumn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In 2026, The Galaxy was won by Marhoona a year to the day she saluted in the 2025 Golden Slipper Stakes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
