    A more conservative sit-and-wait style of ride from the maestro James McDonald saw Chris Waller\u2019s always honest four-year-old Snitzel mare\u00a0Lazzura ($5)<\/strong>\u00a0deservingly breakthrough for her maiden Group 1 success in the\u00a02026 Coolmore Classic results<\/strong>\u00a0at Rosehill. Allowed to settle back off pace from the gate (8), the up-and-comer delivered when asked, coming from well off them at the top of the straight to unleash a powerful late burst right down the outside, extend and hit the line 0.32 lengths clear of Arctic Glamour who came with a huge run up the middle while Vivy Air ran third. It was\u00a0Waller\u2019s fourth straight Coolmore Classic win<\/strong>, and the result sees\u00a0McDonald sit one Group 1 win off the G.O.A.T Damien Oliver\u2019s all-time record<\/strong>. Lazzura is likely to\u00a0head to Randwick on April 11 for the Group 1 Queen of the Turf Stakes<\/strong>\u00a0and she\u2019s\u00a0firmed in from $26 to $11<\/strong>\u00a0to improve on her fourth in the race last year and win another Sydney elite level.<\/p>\n\n\n

    Run over 1,500 metres every March at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, the Coolmore Classic is a Group 1 race, held during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Offering $1,000,000 in prize money as of 2024, the quality handicap clash is open only to fillies and mares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes <\/a>(1300m) and the Group 1 Surround Stakes<\/a> (1400m) make nice lead-up races into the Coolmore Classic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Zougotcha (2024) was the last to do the Millie Fox – Coolmore Classic race double<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Lazzura (2nd in 2026) was the last Coolmore Classic winner to come via the Millie Fox Stakes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Lady Shenandoah (2025) was the last to do the Surround Stakes – Coolmore Classic double<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The best out of the race may back-up in the Group 1 Queen of the Turf Stakes (1600m) – recently run as the Coolmore Legacy Stakes – at Randwick and Con Te Partiro (2020) followed by Zougotcha (2024) are the latest to do the double.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Many star, female gallopers have won the Coolmore Classic since the race was first contested in 1973 including dual hero Sunline (2000, 2002) and Typhoon Tracy (2009).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Coolmore Classic winner is exempt from ballot for the Doncaster Mile<\/a> and Queen Of The Turf Stakes races held at Randwick in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
