    Joe Pride\u2019s evergreen Maurice seven-year-old\u00a0Mazu ($3.70)\u00a0<\/strong>broke a year-long drought when securing victory in the\u00a0Hall Mark Stakes results<\/strong>\u00a0for the third year running. Improving on a lead-up sixth in the TJ Smith, the dual defending champion relished a drop in grade and led all-the-way to post a narrow 0.14 length win in stable trifecta with\u00a0King\u2019s Secret\u00a0<\/strong>second and\u00a0Private Eye\u00a0<\/strong>third.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Hall Mark Stakes is a Group 3 sprint conducted over 1200m at Royal Randwick Racecourse each April on all Aged Stakes Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Open to horses aged three-years-old and above, the event is run at set weights plus penalties and offers $250,000 in prize money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    First run in 1978 the event makes a nice end-of-autumn target for quality sprinters that could be heading to Brisbane for the winter carnival or ready to spell ahead of the spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Hall Mark Stakes is named in honour of the great galloper Hall Mark who won a host of feature races between 1933-35 including the: Australian Derby, Victoria Derby, Melbourne Cup<\/a> and Doncaster Handicap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Originally a mile race, the event has been run over its current six-furlong distance since 1980, and it gained Group 3 status in 2014 the year popular mare Hot Snitzel won.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Plenty of nice horses have won the Hall Mark Stakes over the years including most famously subsequent dual The Everest<\/a> champion Redzel in 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Mazu made history in 2026 becoming the first three-time Hall Mark Stakes winner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
