    Per Incanto five-year-old\u00a0Oak Hill ($4.60)<\/strong>\u00a0improved off a lead-up W.J. Adams second at the Caulfield track to go one better in a stylish quarter-length victory in the\u00a02026 Rubiton Stakes results<\/strong>. Oak Hill travelled sweetly behind a genuine tempo before peeling out at the top of the straight and putting the race to bed inside the final 150 metres in a gun ride by Damian Lane. The gelding has subsequently\u00a0firmed from $21 to $9 to take out the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate on Feb 21\u00a0<\/strong>and do the double for the first time since Lankan Rupee (2014).<\/p>\n\n\n

    Run over 1,100 metres each year in early February at Caulfield Racecourse, the Rubiton Stakes is a Group 2 race. Held during the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival the short distance sprint is one of key races at the meeting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Contested at set weights plus penalties, the Rubiton Stakes offers $300,000 in prize money and makes a nice lead-up into the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate <\/a>(1100m) held back at the track and distance a fortnight later on Blue Diamond Stakes Day.  Lankan Rupee (2014) was the last horse to do the Rubiton Stakes – Oakleigh Plate double<\/strong> in the same year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In 2023 the Rubiton Stakes also produced the Oakleigh Plate winner with runner-up Uncommon James winning the Group 1 while the Rubiton champ Lofty Strike finished runner-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Another potential follow-up race for Rubiton Stakes graduates is Sydney’s Group 1 The Galaxy<\/a> (1100m) run at Rosehill Gardens in March and in 2019 Nature Strip won both events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Rubiton Stakes 2024 form was franked with the runner-up, Asfoora, returning in the spring to win the Group 1 King Charles III Stakes in Sydney before two big runs overseas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Rubiton Stakes also produced the 2024 The Galaxy winner with third placegetter Zapateo improving to win the Group 1 sprint at Rosehill two starts later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In 2025 the Rubiton winner Rey Magnerio went on to run third in that year\u2019s Oakleigh Plate trifecta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
