    Run over 1,200 metres each February at Royal Randwick on Apollo Stakes Day, the Light Fingers Stakes is a Group 2 race held during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival. With a $300,000 prize purse, the event is open to three-year-old fillies and attracts a class line-up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This race serves as an excellent lead in to the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) as well as the recently upgraded Group 1 Surround Stakes<\/a> (1400m). The latest fillies to do the Light Fingers – Surround Stakes double<\/strong> are Nakeeta Jane (2019) and Lady Shenandoah (2025). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes<\/a> (2000m) is another upcoming autumn feature for Light Fingers Stakes graduates and Fangirl (2022) from the Chris Waller stable was the last filly to win both events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Light Fingers Stakes winner In Secret franked the form in Melbourne that prep winning the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap<\/a> (1200m) against the older horses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Lady Shenandoah stamped the strength of the 2025 Light Fingers Stakes form, going on to complete an outstanding double by taking out both the Group 1 Surround Stakes and the Group 1 Coolmore Stakes at her next two appearances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
