Currently taking place on the first Tuesday of November as part of the iconic Melbourne Cup Day card at Flemington Racecourse, the Maribyrnong Plate is a Group 3 race for two-year-olds contested down the straight over 1000m.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The race gets its name from the Maribyrnong River, close to Flemington Racecourse, and offers $240,000 in prize money.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Juvenile horses that contest this race are often on debut and it can be a huge race for punters being the first on Cup Day and has previously been held on both VRC Oaks Day as well as the last day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival the Saturday after the world’s richest handicap.<\/p>\n
