    Robbie Griffiths\u2019 underrated Caulfield specialist and Group 1 Oakleigh Plate placegetter from the autumn,\u00a0Rey Magnerio<\/strong>\u00a0($7.50) returned in style producing a huge late finish off a patient ride by Jye McNeil to head the\u00a02025 Caulfield Sprint results<\/strong>. Still sixth on the home turn, the six-year-old marvel was then badly held up on the straight before finally getting a split 50m out from the line to charge through and salute in another deserving Group 2 victory. Griffiths is unsure if Rey Magnerio will be\u00a0up to the challenge of the Group 1 $3 million Champions Sprint at Flemington on November 8<\/strong>\u00a0but said he will enter him for the event and wait to see.<\/p>\n\n

    Run over 1,000 metres, the Caulfield Sprint is a Group 2 race taking place at Caulfield Racecourse in mid to late October as part of the bumper Caulfield Cup Day card each spring. With a $300,000 prize purse, the short distance handicap event attracts some of Australia\u2019s best sprinters.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Starting out as a Listed Race, this race was upgraded to Group 3 status in 1993, followed by Group 2 status in 1999.<\/span><\/p>\n

    This race serves as a good lead up for the <\/span>VRC Champions Sprint <\/span><\/a>or the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes for three-year-olds held at Flemington on Derby Day. Sepoy (2011) was the last horse to complete the Caulfield Sprint – Coolmore Stud Stakes double<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
