    The Rose Of Kingston Stakes – formerly known as the Blazer Stakes\u00a0<\/strong>– is a Group 2 race for mares run over 1400m at Flemington Racecourse in late September or early October on Turnbull Stakes Day.<\/p>\n

    The set weights plus penalties event offers $300,000 in prize money and makes a nice lead-up into the Group 1 Empire Rose Stakes<\/a> (1600m) run back at the track over the Melbourne Cup Carnival. No mare has completed the Rose Of Kingston – Empire Rose Stakes (formerly the Myer Classic) double however since Sedately (1994).<\/p>\n

    Inaugurated in 1989 the Rose Of Kingston Stakes is named in honour of former start VRC Oaks (1981) and Australian Derby (1982) winning filly Rose Of Kingston.<\/p>\n
