    \"Gloaming<\/p>\n

    Run over 1,800 metres the Gloaming Stakes is a Group 3 race currently taking place at Rosehill Gardens on Hill Stakes Day in October.<\/span><\/p>\n

    In 2023 the race took place at Randwick Racecourse on The Everest Day before moving to the weekend prior at Rosehill in 2024.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    With a $500,000 prize purse the event is open only to three-year-old hopefuls and currently takes place on the same card as the lucrative Group 2 $2 million Hill Stakes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The Gloaming Stakes was first run in 1978 and has held its current Group 3 status since 2005.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The Gloaming Stakes winner is exempt from ballot for the upcoming Group 1 <\/span>Spring Champion Stakes <\/span><\/a>(2000m) each season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The Group 1 VRC Derby (2500m) at Flemington is also a potential target for the best horses out of the Gloaming Stakes. In 2017 Ace High completed the Gloaming Stakes – Spring Champion Stakes – VRC Derby treble.<\/p>\n

    The latest horses to win the Gloaming Stakes – Spring Champion Stakes double<\/strong> are Shadow Hero (2019), Sharp ‘N’ Smart (2022) and El Castello (2024).<\/p>\n
