    Apocalyptic<\/strong>\u00a0($5), trained by Michael Freedman, delivered a stunning first-up victory in the\u00a02025 Furious Stakes results<\/strong>\u00a0at Randwick on Saturday, overcoming a challenging lead-up that included a long spell due to a foot abscess and just one prior race start.<\/p>\n

    The maiden Extreme Choice filly surged through a narrow gap in the straight under Tommy Berry to win by a half-neck in a blanket finish, defeating\u00a0Tupakara<\/strong>\u00a0and Silver Shadow Stakes winner\u00a0Savvy Hallie<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Freedman had considered a more conservative path but backed his instincts and Berry\u2019s confidence, believing Apocalyptic had the class to compete at this level. The win confirmed her status as a top contender for the remaining legs of the Princess Series, with the Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) and Flight Stakes (1600m) now firmly in her sights.<\/p>\n\n

    Run over 1,200 metres the Furious Stakes is a Group 2 race taking place at Randwick Racecourse in early September as part of the Chelmsford Stakes Day card. Offering $300,000 in prize money as of 2023 the event is open to three-year-old fillies only and is run at set weights.<\/p>\n

    The Furious Stakes is one of the events making up the spring’s Princess Series of races<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    The first leg of the series for three-year-old fillies is August’s Silver Shadow Stakes followed by the Furious Stakes and Tea Rose Stakes. The Grand Final race concluding the series is the Group 1 Flight Stakes<\/a> (1600m) on Epsom Handicap Day in October.<\/p>\n

    Speak Fondly (2015) was the last filly to complete the Furious Stakes \u2013 Flight Stakes double<\/strong> as a three-year-old.<\/p>\n

    The 2022 Furious Stakes form was franked with the third placed She’s Extreme going on to win that year’s Group 1 VRC Oaks<\/a> (2500m) at Flemington over the Melbourne Cup Carnival.<\/p>\n
