    The 2025 Show County Quality was won by four-year-old Snitzel mare Lazzura at $6 for trainer Chris Waller with jockey James McDonald aboard on 56kg from barrier 8 to win by 1.35 lengths on a Heavy (10) track to win in a time of 1:12.20.<\/p>\n\n

    Run over 1,200 metres, the Show County Quality Handicap is a Group 3 race taking place at Randwick Racecourse. With a $250,000 prize purse, it attracts its share of local sprinters.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Other races held on the same day at Randwick include the <\/span>Winx Stakes<\/span><\/a>, the <\/span>Silver Shadow Stakes<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>the <\/span>Toy Show Quality <\/span><\/a>and the Premier’s Cup.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    A relatively young race on the Australian Racing Calendar, the event has been run and won since 1993 gaining Group 3 status in 2013 the year Rebel Dane won.<\/p>\n

    The Show County Quality has been won by a number of good horses over the years including subsequent Caulfield Cup – Melbourne Cup<\/a> double champion that season Might And Power (1997).<\/p>\n

    Other notable winners include Deprive (2019), Le Romain (2018), Deploy (2017), Tycoon Tara (2016), Terravista (2014), Rebel Dane (2013), Moment Of Change (2012), Lotteria (2005), Kingsgate (2001), and the inaugural champion Big Dreams (1993).<\/p>\n

    The Show County Quality is now also used as a potential lead-up for sprinters looking to gain a slot in the world’s richest turf race, the $20 million The Everest<\/a> (1200m) held at Randwick each October.<\/p>\n

    The race is named in honour of star 80’s sprinter Show County who won a host of good races – especially as a two-year-old – including Stan Fox Stakes<\/a> and Roman Consul Stakes.<\/p>\n

    In 2021 Private Eye completed the Show County Quality – Epsom Handicap double, while Icebath improved on her Show County third to win the inaugural $2 million The Invitation<\/a> (1400m) later in the spring.<\/p>\n

    The 2024 Show County Quality winning mare Joliestar would go on to win a number of subsequent races including Flemington’s Newmarket Handicap<\/a> in 2025.<\/p>\n
