The BRC Sprint is a Group 3 race run under quality handicap conditions held as part of the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival in either late May or early June on Doomben Cup Day. The race is currently worth $300,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contested over 1350m, the BRC Sprint serves as a potential lead-up into the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap<\/a> (1400m) held at Eagle Farm in mid-June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2019 the BRC Sprint winner Tyzone ran a next-up second in the Stradbroke before improving on his BRC Sprint seventh in 2020 to take out that year’s Stradbroke. In 2021 Tofane improved on a BRC Sprint second to win the Stradbroke next start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2022 Stradbroke Handicap winner Alligator Blood also came via the BRC Sprint having run second in his lead-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Run and won since 1985, the race has been claimed by a number of nice horses over the years including the current race record holder Chief De Beers (1:17.50 in 1998) as well as the cult horse Jungle Edge (2017).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

War Machine (2025) was the last horse to complete the BRC Sprint \/ Stradbroke Handicap double.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
