    Grant & Alana Williams\u2019 evergreen eight-year-old and race favourite,\u00a0Western Empire ($2.25F)<\/strong>, proved too strong for his fellow Group 3 rivals in the 2026 Belmont Sprint results in WA. Western Empire produced a powerful late surge to mow down Rope Them In by nearly a half-length and secure his win in the event having also saluted in 2024, sealing a memorable afternoon for jockey William Pike, who was also unveiled as the newest member of the\u00a0WA Racing Hall of Fame.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Run over 1,400 metres, the Belmont Sprint is a Group 3 race taking place at Belmont Park Racecourse during May. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    With a $200,000 prize purse, the weight-for-age event has been run and won since 1963 and many of Perth’s top horses have saluted including Luckygray (2015). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    From 1963 to 1979, the race was run as a Principal Race. Ever since 1980, it has held and maintained Group 3 status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Until 2015, the race had been run as a Quality Handicap, as opposed to its current Weight For Age conditions. The Group 3 Roma Cup<\/a> (1200m) is the key lead-up into the Belmont Sprint and Rock Magic (2017) and The Boss Lady (2025) are the latest horses to do the double. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In 2023 the Belmont Sprint winner Bustler returned to win Perth’s Group 1 Railway Stakes<\/a> (1600m) in the summer, franking the form of the Group 3 winter sprint race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The 2025 Belmont Sprint was rescheduled to Wednesday, May 28, and transferred from Belmont to Pinjarra after racing on Saturday, May 24, 2025, was abandoned for the day after an inspection near the 150m mark deemed the track unsafe to continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
