    \"Thousand<\/p>\n

    A great Group 1 race for three-year-old fillies, the Thousand Guineas is the female counterpart to the Caulfield Guineas<\/a>, sharing the same age and race distance (1600m).<\/p>\n

    Contested over a mile at Caulfield Racecourse each Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, the Thousand Guineas is run at set weights and offers $1.5 million in prize money as of 2023.<\/p>\n

    It was previously contested on the Wednesday after the Caulfield Guineas, but in 2023 moved to after the Melbourne Cup Carnival and for two years took place in mid-November on Spring Champion Stakes Day.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    In 2025 the Thousand Guineas moved back to its October timeslot joining the Caulfield Cup Day card on Saturday October 18, 2025.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Sydney’s Group 1\u00a0<\/span>Flight Stakes<\/span><\/a> (1600m) serves as a key interstate lead-up into the Thousand Guineas. Global Glamour (2016) was the last filly to complete the interstate Flight Stakes – Thousand Guineas double<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The Thousand Guineas Prelude is the other key lead-up into the time-honoured Group 1 feature, but the double hasn’t been achieved since Irish Lights (2009).<\/p>\n
