    Nick Olive\u2019s improving Tagaloa filly\u00a0Spicy Lu<\/strong>\u00a0($6) put in a career best performance leading all-the-way off a bold front-running ride by jockey Nash Rawiller to hold off her rivals and salute in the\u00a02025 Ethereal Stakes results<\/strong>\u00a0by three-quarters of a length.\u00a0She has now firmed in from $15 to $9 in the all-in Group 1 VRC Oaks odds.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

    \"Ethereal<\/p>\n

    Run over 2,000 metres, the Ethereal Stakes is a Group 3 race taking place at Caulfield Racecourse each October as part of the popular Caulfield Cup Day card. With a $240,000 prize purse, the Ethereal Stakes is contested at set weights plus penalties and is open only to three-year-old fillies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The event is named in honour of the 2001 Caulfield Cup – Melbourne Cup<\/a> double champion mare Ethereal.<\/p>\n

    This race serves as a good lead up for the <\/span>Wakeful Stakes <\/span><\/a>and then the Group 1 VRC Oaks (2500m) held at Flemington on the first Thursday of November. Pinot (2017) was the last filly to complete the Ethereal Stakes – VRC Oaks double<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    The 2018 Ethereal Stakes winner Verry Elleegant would go on to have a glittering career that includes, to date, four subsequent Group 1 victories.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The 2021 Ethereal Stakes runner-up Glint Of Hope franked the form winning the Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) in Adelaide the following autumn. Biscayne Bay meanwhile was third in both the 2021 Ethereal Stakes and VRC Oaks results that season.<\/p>\n
