    Run over 1,600 metres, the Stutt Stakes is a Group 2 race taking place at Moonee Valley Racecourse and is officially known as the Bill Stutt Stakes<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Open to three-year-old horses and run at set weights, the Stutt Stakes is one of the key support races held at The Valley on Manikato Stakes Night on a Friday in late September each Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.<\/p>\n

    Named after Bill Stutt, the former chairman of the Moonee Valley Racing Club, this race was previously known as the Moonee Valley Stakes. Originally a Principal Race, this race was upgraded to Group 2 status in 1979.<\/span><\/p>\n

    This race serves as a reasonable lead up into the <\/span>Caulfield Guineas.<\/span><\/a> Whobegotyou (2008) followed by Griff (2023) are the last horses to do the Stutt Stakes – Caulfield Guineas double<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
