Euro 2020 Tips – Final

Italy vs England
Draw ($3)

It is coming home, or is it coming to Rome?

We are set for an outstanding Euro 2020 final and two quality sides will do battle when England take on Italy at Wembley early on Monday morning AEST.

Enormous pressure sits on the shoulders of the English team and its manager every time they arrive at a major tournament – it has been so long between drinks and with some of the players they have boasts over the years, it’s fair to say that they have underperformed.

The squad that Gareth Southgate assembled for Euro 2020 is packed with young, eager talent and the right amount of older experience, and it has been telling in how well they have gelled and performed as a team.

They leaked just their first goal of the tournament in Thursday morning’s semi-final win over Denmark and they are fitting finalists.

Italy too have been nothing short of outstanding at Euro 2020.

Roberto Mancini has built his side from the ground up, he too has combined the right young talent with experience, and he has employed a very impressive attacking style of play – not something we’ve grown to expect from Italy, nor Mancini himself.

Both sides remain undefeated, and it sets up a truly mouth-watering contest.

I can’t split them, so I’m going to back the draw (after 90 minutes), and I’m also going to have something on England lifting the trophy, given where this match is being played.

Euro 2020 Tips – Semi-Finals

Italy vs Spain
Italy to Win ($2.45)

We’ll be treated to an outstanding Euro 2020 semifinal between Italy and Spain early on Wednesday morning AEST, and it is fair to say that this match wouldn’t have looked out of place as the tournament decider.

The Italians have been nothing short of outstanding at Euro 2020, and they reach this stage of the tournament with a perfect 5-0 record.

Roberto Mancini’s long range plan has already paid dividends, but the Premier League-winning manager won’t be satisfied with anything short of winning the tournament, and he will field another outstanding side against Spain; his biggest test so far.

Spain’s campaign prospects were polarising prior to Euro 2020 commencing, but they have continued to improve with each match and as the pressure has piled on, and they have subsequently silenced many of their doubters.

I think that the bookies have just about got this one correct, and I think that Italy will win in a low scorer.

England vs Denmark
England to Nil ($2.45)

Is it ‘coming home’?

England’s Euro 2020 campaign has been nothing short of outstanding, and they incredibly arrive at the second-to-last stage of the tournament yet to concede a goal.

They have played as one cohesive unit, they are well drilled and importantly, they appear to believe their own hype like the Gerrard/Lampard/Terry/Rooney era did.

They enter this match (at Wembley) as clear odds-on favourites, but they cannot afford to fall out of their headspace and allow a side like Denmark any chances, because they’ll be punished.

The Danish campaign began in tragic circumstances, but after that Matchday 1 contest with Finland, they have been nothing short of outstanding.

Having thrashed Wales in the Round of 16, they continued their impressive run with a tight 2-1 win over a very credible Czech Republic outfit, and there is certainly a case to be made for them pulling off the upset on Thursday morning.

I simply cannot look past how tight the English have been and I am going to stick with them.

Euro 2020 Tips – Quarter-Finals

Spain and Over 2.5 Goals 2.65

Switzerland and Spain meet in the first quarter-final in Saint Petersburg, after both sides played out round of 16 thrillers.

This fixture represents Switzerlands first trip to the Euro quarters in five attempts and it’s a an opportunity thoroughly earned, after seeing off the World Champs via a penalty shootout.

Meanwhile, Spain also required extra-time to get past Croatia, eventually getting up in an eight goal blockbuster.

The Spaniards will be brimming with confidence heading into this fixture, last game they became the first ever team to score over 4.5 goals in back-to-back Euro fixtures!

History is in the three time Euro Champs favour here, with Spain losing just once across their previous 22 fixtures versus the Swiss (16W,5D)!

Italy $2.35

Belgium and Italy go toe-to-toe at Allianz Arena in what is set to be the match of the tournament thus far.

Italy progressed through to the quarter-finals after seeing off Austria 2-1, with all three goals scored in extra time.

This represented the fourth consecutive clean sheet (during regular time) in the Euros for Italy, with the Azzurri last goal conceded coming 12 games ago in October 2020!

Belgium were fortunate to get past Portugal last time out, with the current Euro champs squandering multiple scoring opportunities, recording 23 shots on goal to Belgium’s 6.

Both Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard are major injury doubts for this contest, without their creativity through the middle of the pitch I can’t see Italy’s defence being cracked here.

Denmark $2.05

To the surprise of many football pundits, we are faced with a Czech vs Denmark quarter-final to be played in Baku on Sunday morning (AEST).

The Czech Republic made the most of a 10-man Dutch unit in the round of 16, going through 2-0 as Patrik Schick found the net for the fourth time this tournament.

Alternatively, Denmark absolutely obliterated Wales 4-0, with Dolberg opening his Euro account with a well taken double.

Surprisingly, the Danes are the only remaining nation to record 6+ shots on target across every game so far and will fancy themselves against a side 30 places below them in the FIFA World Rankings.

Following Christian Eriksen’s health scare, Denmark has become the neutrals fan favourite, with the rest of the world behind their back I believe they’ll continue their fine form against the Czechs.

England to nil $1.95

Historically, English fans are known to be a tad delusional when it comes to declaring a national trophy before the fact.

Though the 2020 Euro draw has gifted Southgate’s side a golden opportunity to walk into the Final, with just Ukraine and the winner of Czech v Denmark standing in their way.

The Poms are the only side in the Tournament yet to concede a goal, though of the eight teams remaining, they have scored the least amount of goals (4), two behind Ukraine.

Ukraine has only manage to better England once across their seven game history (2D,4L), scoring just three goals across the trip.

Shevchenko’s side were largely outplayed by Sweden in the round of 16, but took advantage of a 10-man opposition, eventually grinding out a win in extra time.

Barring any disciplinary strife, England should stroll to their third straight win to nil against a side who have already played their grand final!

Euro 2020 Tips – Wednesday, June 30

Draw $3.20

England play host to Germany in one of the most anticipated matches of the tournament thus far!

The Poms topped Group D in underwhelming fashion, scoring just two goals curtesy Raheem Sterling.

Alternatively, Germany netted six times on their way to the round of 16, though the international powerhouse conceded five at the other end and only managed to pick up one win.

Interestingly, the Germans are undefeated across their previous seven matches against England at Wembley Stadium (5W,2D).

With England struggling to create chances, I can easily see this game remaining scoreless through regular time.

Sweden $2.40

Sweden take on Ukraine in the final round of 16 fixture.

The Swedes surprisingly topped Group E ahead of Spain, finishing undefeated with two wins and a draw.

Alternatively, Ukraine snuck through Group C, despite only bettering European minnows North Macedonia.

Of the 16 sides who made it through to the knockout stage, Ukraine had conceded the most shots on target (16).

This bodes well for Sweden, who have scored from 44% of their shots on target thus far.

Ukraine have done well to get this far and will return home with their heads held high.

Euro 2020 Tips – Tuesday, June 29

Croatia vs Spain
SGM: Spain/Morata Anytime Goal ($3.38)

Spain look well placed to progress past Croatia when the two nations meet in the Round of 16 early on Tuesday morning AEST.

Spain were slow from the blocks, particularly by their lofty standards, and drew with both Sweden and Poland, before hitting their straps and putting on a clinic against Slovakia most recently.

Croatia were unlucky to lose to England on Matchday 1, but drew with the Czechs and proved too good for Scotland, to ultimately finish second in Group D.

This is quite clearly their toughest task to date, and nothing less than the form that saw them into the World Cup Final would be enough to topple Spain.

France vs Switzerland
Over 2.5 Goals ($2.15)

The second match on Tuesday morning will see Euro 2020 powerhouse France take on Switzerland.

France began Euro 2020 as favourites in tournament betting, and while they probably haven’t been nearly as dominant as many pundits expected, they’ve still quite clearly been in the top echelon of nations.

They are a side who tend to improve as competitions progress, and I have a feeling that they might really made a statement at the expense of the Swiss.

We typically always know what to expect of Switzerland: they’ll do enough to survive the pool stage, but they just lack the talent and depth of several other European nations, and every match from here on in will be difficult.

Euro 2020 Tips – Monday, June 28

Netherlands vs Czech Republic
Netherlands to Nil ($2.75)

Group C winners the Netherlands tackle the Czech Republic, who scrape into the Round of 16 by the skin of their teeth, having finished third in Group D.

The Dutch campaign has been nothing short of impressive, and they reach this stage of the competition with a perfect record.

Plenty of solo performances have underlined the effort, particularly Memphis Depay, who looks extremely dangerous in front of goal.

The Czechs have lost to England, draw with Croatia and beat Scotland. There has been plenty of impressive passages of play produced, but they’d need to go to a whole new level to pull off the upset tonight.

Belgium vs Portugal
Draw ($3.20)

Just cannot wait for this one. There is a serious case to be built for both Belgium and Portugal, and it looks like being the clear standout fixture in the Euro 2020 Round of 16.

Belgium went undefeated in Group B, and while many have said that they are a boring side, what they do clearly works more often than not.

Portugal were always going to be up against it in the group of death alongside France and Germany, and while they were flogged by the Germans, they did enough to draw with France and beat Hungary.

As always, it’s all about Cristiano Ronaldo, and he has been on fire.

I cannot split them, and I think we’ll be going to extra time.

Euro 2020 Tips – Sunday, June 27

Wales vs Denmark
Wales to Win ($5)

The Round of 16 begins early on Sunday morning Australian time and we’re set for an intriguing match between Wales and Denmark.

Wales progress through Group A, beating out Switzerland into second spot on goal difference and recording a win, a draw and a loss.

When they put it all together, they really do look to be a genuine quarterfinals-quality side, but they’ll certainly need to return a competition best performance to halt the Danes.

Denmark’s campaign began under tragic circumstances of course, but they have shown enormous heart and class to make this stage of Euro 2020, particularly having destroyed Russia most recently.

I can build a genuine case for both sides finding their way into the winner’s stall, so I’m going to take the large value around Wales, and I believe that they are over the odds.

Italy vs Austria
Italy to Nil ($2.10)

Italy have been one of the real standouts at Euro 2020 and they can end Austria’s campaign on Sunday morning AEST.

Roberto Mancini’s appointment has been simply outstanding for the Azzuri and further to their three wins from as many matches in the pool stage, their overall run of form and record in 2021 is blemish-free.

Austria recorded two wins and a loss on their way to second in Group C, but this really does look to be their toughest task to date, and I’m not confident they have the class or depth to keep up with an contain Italy.

Euro 2021 Tips – Thursday, June 24

Spain to win both halves $2.45

Slovakia take on Spain, knowing a draw will be enough to see them progress through to the round of 16.

On the other hand, it’s panic station for the hosts who are on the brink of being eliminated from a group they were tipped to dominate!

With their Euro 2020 spot on the line, I’m expecting Spain to shoot out of the blocks in this one, backing themselves to outscore their opponents.

This represents the fourth time these sides have met on Spanish soil, with the home side claiming the previous three fixtures with an aggregate of 11-2.

Sweden $2.85

Sweden are attempting to progress through the group stage of the Euros undefeated for the first time since 2004 with a result over a struggling Polish outfit.

The key to Swedens success lies in their defence, which has conceded just once across their last seven internationals (6W,1D).

Meanwhile, Poland’s defence has been everything short of resilient, earning just one clean sheet across their last nine starts, which came against the little known Andorra!

The Swedes have won their last seven meetings with Poland dating back to 1989, a streak which I can’t see ending here.

Germany to nil $1.91

A win agains tHungary here could see the Germans steal top spot in the Group of death.

After a subdued performance against France in match day one, the Germans roared back into life vs Portugal last time out, knocking four goals past the current European Champions.

Meanwhile, Hungary surprised all football pundits, holding on for a 1-1 draw against a misfiring French unit.

Germany have won their last two games against Hungary to nil and will be looking to close out their group fixtures with a much improved defensive display.

France $2.25

The current World Champs take on the current European Champs in what is set to an absolute blockbuster!

France can secure their spot at the top of Group F with a win here, while a loss would likely see them drop to 3rd.

The stakes are much higher for Portugal, who risk becoming the first defending champions to be knocked out in the group stage should they lose here.

Both outfits come into this fixture off the back of disappointing performances, France continued to spoon easy chances, finding just one goal against Hungary from 15 attempts.

While Portugal helped Germany to a 4-2 victory, knocking two own goals past Rui Patricio.

France have conceded just once across their previous six internationals, with Portugal defence in a shambles at the moment I’m backing the World Champs to extract some Euro revenge on the side who defeated them in the 2016 final.

Euro 2021 Tips – Wednesday, June 23

1st Half Result (Draw) $2

Czech Republic take on England at Wembley, with the winner set to top Group D.

Funnily enough, 2nd place Group finish here looks more appealing, as the winners are greeted with a match up against either France, Germany or Portugal!

Gareth Southgate has somehow managed to transform some of the brightest attacking talents in world football into a starting XI closer reflecting the likes of Burnley FC.

England’s last four internationals have seen no goals scored in the opening 45 minutes, with both sides benefiting from a draw I can see this one turning into a friendly kick about.

Under 2.5 Goals $1.80

Croatia and Scotland round out the Group D action, with both sides still a chance to progress through to the elimination stage.

Both sides have struggled to generate chances in their opening two fixtures, Scotland remain goalless while Croatia have managed to score once in from their two matchups.

Under 2.5 Goals has hit in each sides last three internationals, while H2H this fixture has never produced more than two goals (5 Games).

With neither side looking tremendous going forward, the unders looks a safe play in this one.

Euro 2021 Tips – Tuesday, June 22

Ukraine vs Austria
Ukraine to Win ($3.25)

The Ukraine will take on Australia in their final Group C match early on Tuesday morning, and a win for either side would seem them through to the knockout stage.

The Ukraine drew group powerhouse the Netherlands on Matchday 1 and returned a competitive, albeit unsuccessful performance which saw them walkaway on the wrong end on a 3-2 scoreline.

They took plenty of benefit from the hit-out, and they enter this match off the back of a credible 2-1 win over North Macedonia.

Austria have returned similar performances and results, but the other way around: they beat North Macedonia first up and were beaten by the Dutch last time.

This shapes as an outstanding contest, particularly with so much on the line, but I’m going to stick with the Ukraine.

North Macedonia vs Netherlands
Memphis Depay Anytime Goal ($2.05)

Betting suggests that the most one-sided match at Euro 2020 so far will materialise between minnows North Macedonia and the Netherlands, and it’s not hard to see why.

Winning their way into their first ever major tournament really was Grand Final day for North Macedonia, and they have lost each of their first two matches at Euro 2020 to Austria and the Ukraine respectively.

They play with plenty of heart, they simply lack the class and depth of every other nation here.

The Dutch meanwhile are two from two, and they should just be winning again.

Russia vs Denmark
Draw ($3.70)

Group B will also conclude early on Tuesday morning AEST and while Russia and Denmark are both mathematically capable of progressing, the former is in the box seat.

Russia were comfortably accounted for by Belgium on Matchday 1, but they kept their hopes alive with a gritty 1-0 win over Finland most recently.

Denmark’s campaign has been marred by tragedy, and they have unfortunately failed to have much of an impact at Euro 2020, losing each of their first two matches.

It would take a big win for them to jump into second place, and it would also require Belgium to beat Finland, which itself isn’t out of the question.

I don’t think that Russia should be as long as they are, but I’m also not entirely confident they can win.

Finland vs Belgium
Michy Batshuayi Anytime Goal ($2.25)

Belgium will look to keep alive their unbeaten run at Euro 2020 by beating Finland on Tuesday morning.

They have been nothing short of outstanding during their first two appearances at the tournament, and they will top Group B by drawing this match.

I personally cannot find a reason why they won’t just win again.

Finland recorded a tough-fought win over the Danish on Matchday 1, but they failed to capitalise on that effort and win when losing to Russia at their latest appearance.

A win would give them a serious chance of progressing, but this is a big rise in class.
