Orlando Magic
The Magic enter this one a disappointing 20-30 after 6 losses in their last 7 games. Center Nikola Vucevic has been their clear best player this season, averaging a solid 20.6 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists. Evan ‘Don’t Google Me’ Fournier is also having another stellar season, averaging a respectable 14 points and 3.5 rebounds.
Oklahoma City Thunder
OKC make the trip to Orlando at 31-18 after a huge home win over Milwaukee on Monday. Paul George delivered another epic performance, pouring in 36 points to go along with his 13 rebounds and 3 steals. Russell Westbrook also messed around and got another triple double, putting up 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists.
Prediction: Thunder -5
Whilst a lot of the action has been coming in on OKC, I feel confident supporting the public here. Orlando’s lack of perimeter defence should mean that George and Westbrook run wild. Their lack of offensive creation should also prove difficult against a stout OKC defence.
Detroit Pistons
The Pistons return home at 21-27 after a road loss in Dallas last time out. This was despite another very solid performance from Blake Griffin, who put up 35 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Andre Drummond continues to provide solid support on the interior, this time putting up 23 points, 15 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks find themselves 35-13 after a road loss in OKC last time out. Giannis still put up some very solid numbers in defeat, dropping 27 points and 18 rebounds. The rest of the Bucks starting lineup all scored in double figures, headlined by Khris Middleton’s night of 22 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds.
Prediction: Pistons +6.5
Detroit have a notable rest advantage in this one, whilst OKC also make the trip after a very emotional game last time out. Despite an excellent 2018/19 campaign, Milwaukee hasn’t been the same team on the road, going just 10-10 ATS. Getting 6.5 points, I like Detroit here.
Houston Rockets
The Rockets enter this one a solid 29-20 after a home win over Orlando last time out. James Harden delivered yet another stellar performance, this time going off for 40 points, 11 boards, and 6 assists. Chris Paul played 25 minutes in his return from injury, registering 12 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds.
New Orleans Pelicans
New Orleans enters this one at 22-28 after 5 losses in their last 6 games. Jrue Holiday has continued his solid play, dropping 29 points and 7 rebounds against San Antonio last time out. Jahlil Okafor has also stepped up in Anthony Davis’ absence, dropping 24 points and 15 boards on 10/12 shooting.
Prediction: 1st Half Under 120
With Paul having just recently come back, I think Houston’s pace will take a slight dip in this one. New Orleans also don’t have the same offensive threats without Davis and may struggle to score here. Especially with 3 points of value given the full-game line, I like under 120 in this 1st half.
