Daily Dogs – Saturday, August 10

The Meadows: Race 2 (6:49pm)
The Meadows: Race 2 (6:49pm)

Theegala just needs luck in running to add to his growing resume.

The son of Aston Rupee has missed the money only once from seven starts, winning back to back starts here at The Meadows earlier in his prep over the same distance.

His best time came in 30.08 seconds, the quickest over the track and distance among his rivals.

The Meadows: Race 5 (7:50pm)
No. 1 Mighty Quinn

Mighty Quinn looked as though he might be wanting further again after finishing three lengths off in third at Shepparton last week.

The majority of his career wins have come over 525m, his best at The Meadows coming in a nice time of 30.11 seconds.

He’s well-suited by the inside box and should be making a move from midfield.

The Meadows: Race 7 (8:29pm)
No. 5 Tully Luna

Tully Luna is a versatile runner that should find a lovely spot in behind the speed from Box 5.

She was the beaten favourite from a similar draw last week over the same distance but was seen winning by a length a week earlier at Geelong.

Two wins from her last four starts reads well, alongside a speedy 34.62 second track and distance time.

The Meadows: Race 9 (9:17pm)
No. 3 West Star

West Star can go forward early from Box 3 and lead.

He’s still only lightly raced, but has already put together a tidy resume that features five wins and a handful of placings.

Three of those victories have come over the same track and distance, so he should measure up in a race of this caliber.

Daily Dogs – Friday, August 9

Bendigo: Race 3 (7:45pm)
No. 7 Nikita Bale

Nikita Bale is suited out over further after regaining some confidence with a 3.3 length win over shorter at Shepparton last week.

The daughter of Dyna Villa has drawn an identical box out wide and is likely to be up on the speed early and looking to set the pace.

Bendigo: Race 5 (8:27pm)
No. 1 Irish Nikki

Irish Nikki has enormous early speed and almost never finishes outside of the money.

She’ll look to improve on last week’s impressive win at The Meadows that saw her go nearly four lengths clear over further.

Back to her preferred distance now, she’ll prove hard to catch.

Bendigo: Race 7 (9:09pm)
No. 7 Lassard

Lassard is an in-form two-year-old that typically races well when drawn wide.

He’s featured in the money in all bar four of his 23 career starts and was seen warming up late at The Meadows last week.

Maps to land just off the speed and will no doubt be fighting out the finish.

Bendigo: Race 10 (10:12pm)
Tip: No. 4 Versnellen

Keen on Versnellen back slightly in distance now.

This son of Fernando Bale was placed over a touch further at Ballarat, before struggling out wide three weeks ago at Shepparton.

He’s been given a decent gap b between runs and has recorded all six of his career wins over 425m.

Daily Dogs – Thursday, August 8

Sandown: Race 4 (7:20pm)
No. 5 After The Siren

After The Siren is an in-form two-year-old rising nicely through the grades.

The son of Fernando Bale hasn’t missed a cheque in all five starts this prep, winning nicely two back at Warragul over shorter by a length.

He was strong through the line when runner-up here in a similar event last week, and is likely to take plenty of benefit away from that performance.

Look from him up on the speed in the early stages.

Sandown: Race 6 (8:08pm)
No. 3 Mepunga Surprise

Mepunga Surprise was the beaten favourite here last week when attempting a big step up in trip to 715m.

She was placed the run prior at Geelong five days earlier and is likely better suited here drawn closer to the paint.

If she can get forward early and establish a spot on the speed, she’ll be one of the hardest to catch with fitness on her side.

Sandown: Race 8 (8:47pm)
No. 3 In The Hub

In The Hub is the class runner here despite finishing nearly seven lengths off last week.

He’s talented stayer that should be fast into stride, winning on 11 occasions at Sandown, seven of those coming over the track and distance.

His best time of 29.10 seconds if the fastest in this field, and if he gets luck in running early, he’ll be difficult to run down.

Sandown: Race 9 (9:06pm)
No. 3 Ella’s Babe

Ella’s Babe has the runs on the board to suggest she’ll be competitive in the Nationals Distance Final.

She’s always strong in these longer staying races and is a four-time winner at this venue.

Last week’s runner-up effort puts her in good stead for this, particularly with a 41.71 second track/distance PB to her name.

Daily Dogs – Wednesday, August 7

Richmond: Race 5 (8:25pm)
No. 8 Only Reason

Hard to fault Only Reason stepping out in search of his hat-trick.

This lightly-raced son of Feral Franky was enormous on return here last week, driving to the front in the late stages to pull clear and win by 3.5 lengths.

He’ll appreciate another wide box and has enough late speed to really put the heat on the leaders in the run home.

Richmond: Race 7 (9:05pm)
No. 5 Lady Luella

Lady Luella comes back to compete over 320m with a handful of wins to her name.

She was strong up on the speed over further two runs back at Gosford, and then bumped into a smart type last start behind Solo Fernado.

This is a competitive field with plenty of early speed, and she should feature prominently soon after box rise.

Richmond: Race 9 (9:43pm)
No. 6 Wild Sylvia

Wild Sylvia should be fast into stride coming off a break.

The lightly-raced two-year-old has missed the money only twice from 11 starts, last seen running second at Wentworth Park in May over the same journey.

She’s suited having drawn a wider box and will take serious catching fresh.

Richmond: Race 11 (10:23pm)
No. 1 Secrets Revealed

Secrets Revealed just needs to find early running room to back up last week’s impressive two-length win and make it a double.

The son of Flying Ricciardo made every post a winner up on the speed and is likely to relish the hot tempo again here.

Providing he steps well, he’ll be fast into stride and just as difficult to run down.

Daily Dogs – Tuesday, August 6

Geelong: Race 3 (3:39pm)
No. 8 Going Gets Tough

Going Gets Tough has mixed his form from wider boxes, but he does own a pair of wins and a handful of placings to his name from Box 8.

The son of Moreira hasn’t won since April, but he did show improvement here last week when just missing out on a place.

With a good record at Geelong and late speed to burn, he’s capable of getting into the money this time.

Geelong: Race 5 (4:14pm)
No. 8 Oryx

Oryx typically does his best work from out wide and he looks to have found a winnable race first-up.

The lightly-raced two-year-old has found the money in six of his 14 starts so far and is worth forgiving on his unplaced effort at The Meadows last start from the inside box.

If he gets across early and can land off the speed, he’ll prove hard to hold out.

Geelong: Race 7 (4:49pm)
No. 5 Jacaerys Bale

Jacaerys Bale looks suited out to 460m now after running a distant third over much shorter last week.

The son of Flamin Ace hasn’t done a great deal wrong over his last four starts and also owns a nice win over this trip earlier in the year.

He feature up on the speed soon after box rise and take catching.

Geelong: Race 9 (5:25pm)
No. 2 Trumpeter Rock

Trumpeter Rock is drawn to receive all the favours from Box 2 in this small field.

He’s gone unplaced in all four starts to begin his career but did show some nice late speed two back at Warrnambool.

Looks likely to settle midfield and pile on the pressure out of the bend.

Daily Dogs – Monday, August 5

Shepparton: Race 3 (7:29pm)
No. 3 Paw Waldo

Paw Waldo was excellent two runs back when winning for a second time by a clear margin at Traralgon.

He clearly looked in need of the run when stepping up to tackle 390m here last week where he found excuses from wider out.

To his credit, he was beaten only half a length and is much better suited on this occasion drawn closer to the rail. If he steps well, he‘ll be one of the toughest to reel in.

Shepparton: Race 5 (8:10pm)
No. 8 Mighty Quinn

Mighty Quinn was back in the winner’s circle last week when exploding late to go clear by over a length at Horsham.

He’s no stranger to winning from wider out and is always a threat over 450m with five wins and a number of placings to his name.

Shepparton: Race 9 (9:32pm)
No. 8 Uncle Rosco

Uncle Rosco should land on the bunny soon after box rise from out wide.

The three-year-old by Fernando Bale hasn’t missed the money in three starts over the track and distance, holding his ground here earlier in his prep to run third.

He was placed again last start over this trip at Ballarat and has been kept fresh for the run. Looks tough to run down if he finds the clear early.

Shepparton: Race 10 (9:55pm)
No. 4 Kentucky Gus

Kentucky Gus drops back to 390m with a pair of wins to his name across his last three starts.

He was all class winning by over five lengths at Bendigo last week and is likely to feature up on the speed again with luck in running early on.

Daily Dogs – Sunday, August 4

Sale: Race 3 (5:19pm)
No. 4 Dr Leoni

Dr Leoni should appreciate the extra running room with a vacant alley next door.

This daughter of Fernando Bale can mix her form, but she does own a win over the track and distance to her name last month.

The shorter trip clearly wasn’t to her liking last week at Healesville, but this is a more winnable assignment if she can drift back early and make full use of her explosive speed.

Sale: Race 6 (6:21pm)
No. 7 Lindenow Grace

Lindenow Grace is shooting for her hat-trick after prevailing in her final few strides here last week.

She should be better for that effort after stepping up in trip, and I do prefer her from a wider alley after winning well from Box 7 at Traralgon the start prior.

In a race that lacks clear early speed, she should land right on the bunny and take catching.

Sale: Race 8 (6:58pm)
No. 7 Black Viper

Black Viper will prove tough to reel in if he’s fast into stride from the wide box.

That was the case again last week when he went three lengths clear from Box 1, his fifth career win over the 510m trip.

He won that race in a nice time of 28.91 seconds and is likely to run most of these off their feet in the early stages.

Sale: Race 10 (7:39pm)
No. 2 Lightning Jewel

Lightning Jewel is another one that should ping the lids early.

The daughter of Fernando Bale steps out in search of her hat-trick after winning her last two starts by a combined three lengths.

She’s suited by the inside box once again and should have plenty of room to take charge with a vacant alley next door.

Daily Dogs – Saturday, August 3

The Meadows: Race 3 (7:16pm)
No. 7 Zadie

Zadie looks ready to win again with some extra fitness on her side now.

The daughter of Whiskey Riot was runner-up over shorter in the VicBred Series Final at Warrnambool two runs back, before stepping up to tackle this distance last week where she was beaten nearly eight lengths.

That run should have done her the world of good, and she’s once again drawn perfectly out wide. Look for her to make full use her late speed.

The Meadows: Race 5 (7:55pm)
No. 5 Aston Hornet

Aston Hornet has a win and multiple placings to his name over this track and distance.

This is a race that lacks early speed, so he should get back early from the middle box and pile on the pressure out of the bend.

Having found the money in each of his last three starts, this looks another winnable assignment sticking to 600m.

The Meadows: Race 8 (8:57pm)
No. 1 Mackenna

Mackenna looks one of the better bets on tonight’s program.

The in-form two-year-old has found the winner’s circle in two of her last three starts, leading all the way to score by 5.5 lengths early last month at Albion Park.

She’s a perfect four-from-four here at The Meadows and typically races well when kept fresh. Drawn the inside box, I can’t see her getting beat.

The Meadows: Race 10 (9:39pm)
No. 5 Camp Fire

Camp Fire found the 460m trip a little on the short side when he was last to cross the line at Geelong a fortnight ago.

He was racing well over this journey earlier in his prep, winning nicely here by close to a length back in May.

The middle box should see him settle toward the tail of the field early and save his best for the run home.

Daily Dogs – Friday, August 2

Geelong: Race 3 (7:39pm)
No. 4 Xisan Bale

Xisan Bale has done some of his best racing over the 460m trip here at Geelong.

His best performance came in a nice time of 25.84 seconds and he should be suited dropping back sharply in trip after contesting 525m at The Meadows a week ago.

There looks to be some good early speed in this contest, and if he can settle off the pace early from the middle box, he’ll pile on the pressure late.

Geelong: Race 5 (8:21pm)
No. 6 Aston Lord

Aston Lord should be fast into stride from wider out and take real catching.

The son of Aston Rupee has been in great form of late, winning two of his last four starts, the latest coming by nearly three lengths only a few days ago at Sandown.

With an empty box next door, he should be afforded plenty of room approaching the bend.

Geelong: Race 7 (9:03pm)
No. 3 Lanky Larry

Lanky Larry was the beaten favourite last week when stepping up to tackle this distance range in just his third appearance at the races.

He was entitled to start a short price after winning his maiden at Horsham a week earlier by a whopping six length margin.

Drawn a much better box this time and fitter third-up, he’ll be difficult to hold out coming off the speed.

Geelong: Race 9 (9:45pm)
No. 1 Sharapova Star

Sharapova Star comes back to compete over 400m after finishing 15 lengths off over much further in a tougher race at The Meadows last week.

The daughter of Fernando Bluey shed the maiden tag in impressive style a week earlier at Ballarat and is likely better suited over the shorter trip.

She’s aided by the inside box again and has enough early speed to settle close to the leaders.

Daily Dogs – Thursday, August 1

Albion Park: Race 3 (7:25pm)
No. 4 Tagovailoa

Tagovailoa is the one to watch with late speed in this small field.

The talented three-year-old has won on 11 occasions over this trip and is worth forgiving on last week’s efforts when stepping back sharply from contesting 600m the start prior.

He’s aided by the vacant box to the inside and is likely to make his presence felt out of the turn.

Albion Park: Race 6 (8:31pm)
No. 3 Daysea’s Rowdy

Daysea’s Rowdy should be going close from an inside box on this occasion.

The son of Sennachie has placed in his last two starts over the track and distance from out wide, beaten by the barest of margins a week ago by Cobblepot.

His best track/distance win came in a time of 30.03 seconds, only a shade slower than the fast Hostile Assassin in this field.

Albion Park: Race 8 (9:17pm)
No. 1 Seven Sinners

Seven Sinners should be fast into stride once lids fly.

The three-year-old daughter of Fernando Bale has been nothing but class since returning to work, winning two of her four starts and finishing runner-up here last week over the same trip.

She’s always a threat from the inside box and looks to have most of these covered in terms of early speed.

Albion Park: Race 10 (9:56pm)
No. 6 Binny Doo

Binny Doo remains winless from three starts over the track and distance, but it’s hard to fault his recent form heading into this contest.

The Fernando Bale two-year-old has featured in the money in his last four starts, winning by a handy margin two back over 600m, before running on late over shorter here a week ago.

He’s likely to settle midfield and in a race that packs enormous early speed, look for him to be doing his best work late.
