Daily Dogs: Friday 23rd August

The Gardens: Race 5 (4:35pm AEST)
No. 6 Carpenter’s Arms

Carpenter’s Arms has been racing in great form with three wins from her past five starts.

The Stephen Bell-trained bitch won over 400m here in 22.75 seconds last start.

She rises in trip but that won’t faze him given she’s won five of 10 starts over the course and distance including five starts back when clocking a slick 29.71 seconds.

She’s suited by box 6 and should be strong late.

The Gardens: Race 6 (4:57pm AEST)
No. 2 Chiang Mai Mick

Chiang Mai Mick impressed in his first start over this course and distance last week.

The son of Zipping Garth was a touch slow from this box but motored in the final section to win easily in a fast 22.77 seconds.

He’ll be better for the experience and maps to get the same run.

If he produces his best, they will be hard pressed to beat him.

The Gardens: Race 8 (5:33pm AEST)
No. 5 Calm Down Donna

Calm Down Donna was excellent when winning over this course and distance last start.

The daughter of Feral Franky jumped straight to the front from box 3 before dashing clear in a sizzling 22.80 seconds.

She was returning from a seven-month break so she’ll strip fitter here.

The four dog should give her a nice tow across and I expect Donna to be hard to beat.

The Gardens: Race 11 (6:29pm AEST)
No. 7 Rhyno’s Magic

Rhyno’s Magic appreciated coming to The Gardens last start after two disappointing efforts at Wentworth Park.

The Fernando Bale bitch flew out of the lids to lead all the way in 22.73 seconds.

She jumped from the inside box that day but the move to box 7 won’t faze her as it will give her time to build momentum into the bend.

Daily Dogs – Thursday, August 22

Wentworth Park: Race 3 (7:58pm AEST)
No.3 Swift Challenge

Swift Challenge handled his first attempt at this course and distance well.

The Jay Opetaia-trained dog led from box 5 before being run down late to finish second in 29.93 seconds.

He had previously been racing over 318m so he did extremely well and will be better for the run.

From box 3 he can lead and prove hard to catch.

Wentworth Park: Race 4 (8:22pm AEST)
No. 1 Depeche

Depeche was a step slow from box 8 in a heat of the Peter Mosman Classic last start and that put pay to his chances.

That was the son of Aston Dee Bee’s first defeat in four starts and he had been flying prior to that.

Two starts back over this course and distance he demolished his rivals by 10.5 lengths in a scintillating 29.58 seconds.

He should get on the arm early from box 1 and go all the way.

Wentworth Park: Race 5 (8:43pm AEST)
No. 4 Canya Love Me

Canya Love Me has won nearly half her races and competes particularly well over this course and distance.

Two starts back the daughter of Collision proved too strong when clocking a smart 29.70 seconds.

The vacant box to her immediate outside is a big boost to her chances.

Her best jump can be devastating and if she brings that then she could prove hard to hold out.

Wentworth Park: Race 6 (9:07pm AEST)
No. 4 On Report

On Report has not been out of the quinella in five career starts.

The Jason Magri-trained dog had his first look at this course and distance last start and handled it well, jumping straight to the front before being run down late to finish second in 29.86 seconds.

Three starts back he won in a best of the night 29.83 seconds over 520m at Richmond.

He was slick to the first marker last start and a repeat of that from box 4 should see him hard to beat.

Daily Dogs – Wednesday, August 21

The Meadows: Race 2 (7:10pm AEST)
No. 1 Honey Zen

Honey Zen finds a winnable race after struggling in her past two outings in stronger company.

The daughter of Barcia Bale showed electric speed out of box 7 over this course and distance three starts ago to lead all the way in 30.33 seconds.

That time is quicker than any other dog in this field has been able to get near.

From box 1, she should be able to get on the lure early and prove hard to run down.

The Meadows: Race 5 (8:12pm AEST)
No. 3 Reiterate

Reiterate will appreciate the big drop in class after recently finishing last in the Victoria National Distance Final.

The son of Fernando Bale last enjoyed success in June when easily claiming the Pink Diamond Rookie Distance Final at Shepparton over 650m.

So, the drop back to this distance looks ideal.

He possesses excellent box speed so he should find the front from the white and go all the way.

The Meadows: Race 6 (8:28pm AEST)
No.3 Shadows Of Blue

Shadows Of Blue has returned to his brilliant best and chases three wins on the trot.

The son of Tommy Shelby has recorded back-to-back best of the night times over this course and distance in his past two races.

On each occasion he has settled handy before producing a powerful finish to salute.

He should be able to camp on West Star’s back before coming over the top.

The Meadows: Race 7 (8:48pm AEST)
No. 2 Aston Ping

Aston Ping will take benefit from his first look at the course and distance last start.

The Fernando Bale bitch was quick away but couldn’t find the front early and had to settle in second, but to her credit she didn’t shirk the task and finished runner-up in 30.48 seconds.

She’s in great form having won in a best of the night time at Horsham two starts back.

She has the early speed to get on the lure from box 2 and give this field something to run down.

No. 2 Cyclone Indi

J: (kg) T: Sidney Goodwin

Cyclone Indi is racing well and has won four from six over this track and distance.

The son of Hooked on Scotch proved too slick here two runs back but last time, just got squeezed up midrace and was never in it from there.

He’ll jump from box two and if he can get a clear run, he’ll be hard to beat.

No. 1 Jamaica Honey

J: (kg) T: Sandra Hunt

Jamaica Honey was only narrowly beaten here two runs back and put up a big gap back to third.

She didn’t have the best of luck last time, copping a bit of interference just before the home turn but she rallied back to finish off strongly.

Her best runs have been over the 331m here and she’s two from two off the inside draw.

Albion Park: Race 10 (8:53pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 5 North Star

J: (kg) T: Reg Hazelgrove

North Star won well here two runs back before getting skittled last start.

Prior to that she’d won two from three over the 331m here and she does boast the quickest time of these runners.

Box 5 could be tricky but with even luck, she’ll be hard to beat.

No. 4 Indian Rupee

J: (kg) T: Cameron Scott

Indian Rupee has put together an enviable record.

Only lightly raced, the daughter of Aston Rupee has been successful in four of her seven starts and has finished the runner up on a further two occasions.

She’s been able to cross them early and get the job done at her past two outings and with a clean getaway here, she’ll be very hard to catch.

Daily Dogs – Saturday, August 17

Wentworth Park: Race 2 (7:23pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 1 August Bob

J: (kg) T: Stephen Fitch

August Bob made it back to back wins here before having very little luck last time.

From box two he wasn’t the fastest out and then copped a squeeze heading into first turn.

A very speedy dog on his day, he does race particularly well here and with the inside draw I think he can bounce back.

Wentworth Park: Race 6 (8:44pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 7 Linkin Girl

J: (kg) T: Jodie Lord

Linkin Girl is in red hot form having won her past three starts and she looks well placed here to add to that tally.

She’s posted the fastest time here of these runners and looks the one to beat.

Wentworth Park: Race 7 (9:03pm)

J: (kg) T: Frank Hurst

Good Odds Cobber is shooting for three wins on the bounce and he just loves it here at Wentworth Park.

From thirteen appearances over the 520m here, the son of Fernando Bale he’s recorded nine wins along with two placings.

If he can cross early and take up the running, he’ll be very hard to catch.

No. 4 Golden Phase

J: (kg) T: Troy Halligan

Golden Phase just keeps winning and there’s a lot to like about her here.

Only lightly raced the Zipping Garth youngster has been successful in five of her eight starts and will look to make it four straight.

She’s won two of three out of box 4 and I think she’ll prove too good for them.

Daily Dogs – Friday, August 16

The Gardens: Race 3 (4:01pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 2 Chiang Mai Mick

J: (kg) T: Mark Davidson

Chiang Mai Mick has performed well in all four starts and looks well suited dropping back to 400m.

He won impressively over this distance second up and last time took up the running over 450m but was run down late after going wide on the home turn.

If he corners well, he’ll be hard to beat.

The Gardens: Race 6 (5:04pm)

No. 1 Bedazzled Buddy

J: (kg) T: Brett Moore

Bedazzled Buddy just keeps stepping up.

Only lightly raced with the six starts, he made it back to back wins last time with a two length victory over this track and trip.

Charging through from the inside box he took up the running and never gave them a look in.

He gets the rails draw again and can make it three on the bounce.

Bendigo: Race 1 (7:07pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 5 Willow Skye

J: (kg) T: Briana Robertson -Leech

Willow Skye has been placed in both starts to date and looks promising.

Last start over this track and trip she jumped away well and chased hard and whilst she couldn’t reel in the leader, she did put up 3.25 length margin back to the rest.

If she jumps away clean, she should prove hard to beat.

Bendigo: Race 7 (9:13pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 2 Gold Scotch

J: (kg) T: Anthony Azzopardi

Gold Scotch comes off a dominant last start victory at this course and distance and looks well placed to repeat that performance.

A winner of three of her last four, she’s racing in great form and has put together a very impressive record.

She loves it here at Bendigo is has been victorious in both starts from box two.

No. 2 Happy Bandit

J: (kg) T: Jodie Lord

Happy Bandit has been the runner up in all three starts and looks well placed to break through.

The youngster stepped out over the 440m at Goulburn at his first two outings before coming here, where he tried hard over this distance but just couldn’t reel in the leader.

This looks a winnable race for him and I think he’ll prove too good for them.

Wentworth Park: Race 8 (9:32pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 1 Zipping Duvall

J: (kg) T: Courtney Barnes

Zipping Duvall comes here in top order having won two of his past three starts.

Nothing went right for him two runs back but he bounced back last time with a terrific all-the-way win after flying out of the boxes.

He loves it here at Wentworth Park and from the inside draw he looks set to repeat that latest performance.

Albion Park: Race 6 (8:31pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win Market Mover

No. 6 Whistle Away

J: (kg) T: Garry Gilbert

Whistle Away is in red hot form having won five of his past six starts.

He was beaten only a length here two runs back before heading to Capalaba where he proved too slick over the 366m trip.

The son of Fernando Bale has a great record here and was successful at his only start out of box 6.

Albion Park: Race 9 (9:38pm)

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 6 Amendola

J: (kg) T: Tom Tzouvelis

Amendola was brave in defeat last start and I think he can bounce back.

He made it back to back wins before tackling the QLD Distance Championship Final, where he took up the running but just felt the pinch over the final stages.

Back to 520m looks ideal and If he can produce his best, he’ll be too good for them.

Daily Dogs – Wednesday, August 14

Albion Park: Race 2 3:36pm

Win

No. 3 Rousey Haze

Rousey Haze was beaten just over length here on debut and was unlucky not to have won.

Crossing from out wide the daughter of Fernando Bale was clipped shortly after the first turn but rallied back strongly to claim second.

She gets box three here and with any luck in the run, should prove hard to beat.

Albion Park: Race 5 (4:27pm)

Win

No. 4 Mandela Haze

Mandela Haze is in terrific form and will look to make it three on the bounce.

He loves it here over the 395m and if he can jump away clean from the middle box, he’ll be hard to run down.

Albion Park: Race 7 (5:02pm)

Win

No. 3 Do Run Bandi

Do Run Bandi looks very smart having made it three from three.

After scoring on debut at Ipswich by over 7 lengths, he’s proven too slick in both outings over this track and trip.

He clocked the fastest time of the meeting here last start when jumping from box three and he looks well placed to maintain his unbeaten record.

Daily Dogs – Tuesday, August 13

Horsham: Race 2 (2:44pm)
No. 3 Xeni Bale

Hard to fault what Xeni Bale has produced over his last couple of attempts.

The son of Jarvis Bale was placed behind the smart Flying Muffin two back at Sale, before going one better last week at at Bendigo to prevail by half a length from the inside box.

He’s a versatile runner that can pile on the pressure mid-race, and we should see him get back early once lids fly.

Horsham: Race 5 (3:39pm)
No. 5 Bernie Burrow

Bernie Burrow has been disappointing over his last few runs, but it’s hard to ignore the hat-trick of wins he scored prior.

He’s found a race packed with early speed on the map, and he should be able to push forward from the middle draw and look to make every post a winner.

With nine wins to his name over this distance, he’s the one to beat.

Horsham: Race 8 (4:49pm)
No. 6 Farnham Bale

Farnham Bale was placed over this track and trip last week when stepping back sharply from competing over 515m at Sandown the run prior.

The son of Feral Franky has mixed his form over the track and distance, but he has won on four other occasions over this trip at different venues.

With a vacant box next door affording plenty of early running room, he’ll be difficult to hold out in the finish.

Horsham: Race 10 (5:30pm)
No. 7 Henry Bale

Henry Bale has gone unplaced in his last two runs, but he has proven capable from out wide in the past.

The two-year-old by Feral Franky owns a 23.24 seconds track/distance PB here at Horsham, far and away the quickest among his rivals.

He’ll look to cross early from Box 7 and attempt to save his speed for the finish.

Daily Dogs – Sunday, August 11

Grafton: Race 3 (6:36pm)
No. 3 Extreme Gem

Extreme Gem shed the maiden tag a fortnight ago when prevailing by half a length at Casino.

She’s still only lightly-raced but is open to improvement getting out an extra 50m from another handy box.

This race has a stack of winning chances, but with good early speed engaged, she should push forward early and look to finish over the top.

Grafton: Race 5 (7:13pm)
No. 7 Divorce Source

Divorce Source is a multiple track and distance winner with late speed to burn.

The son of Beast Unleashed was back in the winner’s circle here last month before going on to find the placings in his next two starts.

He’s mixed his form from wider alleys, but with a sizzling 20.01 track and distance PB to his name, he’ll be very difficult to hold out.

Grafton: Race 8 (8:22pm)
No. 6 Fire Paws

Fire Paws can get back early or try his luck on speed from Box 6.

He’s another one that has piled up a number of wins over the track and journey, his best coming in a time of 25.16 seconds.

Off last week’s effort for third over 600m, he looks suited dropping back significantly in distance.

Grafton: Race 10 (8:58pm)
No. 8 Hear The Crow

Hear The Crow can test his luck on speed from out wide.

All six of his career wins have come over the 350m trip here at Grafton, his best being a time of 19.83 seconds – the quickest in this field.

There’s good early speed from the inside alleys, but he should be one of the hardest to catch.
